An athlete using "clen" as a PED to dope is one thing, but a Rancher using "clen" to dope his cattle is quite another. MUCH MORE SERIOUS.
Many men, women, and kids have been POISONED by clen-doped cattle over the years.

WADA's positive finding from Alberto might be the Tip of an Iceberg.
If Alberto has "clen" in him, there must be thousands or tens of thousands of fellow citizens with "clen" in them too.

And only the WADA's advanced testing was able to uncover the clen.

That said, would it make sense for WADA to make an offer to act as a "liason" between INTERPOL and the Spanish "FDA" in this matter. Similiar to their offer to act as a liason between INTERPOL and the US FDA in the Novitzky grand jury case.

Heck, there may be clen-doping in the US Beef Industry too. Fast Food and what not. WADA might help blow the lid off a dangerous health scandal of epic proportions.

Or they may just give Alberto a 3 month "ban" ouch. Oh well

That sounds like too much work.

So it comes down to what's dirtier, the Spanish meat industry or cycling. It's a tough call. Still going with cycling here.

You are now approaching the real basis for Novitsky's USPS case. The USADA acted swiftly when "downer" cattle were discovered and immediately cooperated with Canada and other jurisdictions to maintain the quality of the food source. USADA also is charge with protecting the prescription drug sources and with internet sales from out of country proliferating for all kinds of drugs; they've got their hands full without international cooperation.
Your suggestion, serious or not; has merit.

So have you any clue about how is the meat industry in Spain??

For the same reason I would not dare to say anything about the meat industry in Ohio.

It is insulting man, you have plenty of info in the internet, you can even trace by yourself the cattle you have been eating, like everywhere else in Europe. As the Asociation of Spanish meat producers have said repeteadly, they would love to have the info regarding where that meat was bought, because they could trace it back and investigate if there is an unlikely case of contamination. These issues are serious, and Contador an irresponsible whether he was doping or not.

Fun fact: Spanish believe Contador's beef tale. I assume the Spanish have a clue about their own meat industry.

Many Spanish believe Contador because of 1) they know nothing about how cycling works nowadays 2) they are irrationally nationalistic. 3) or both

They do not put in the balance the meat industry and Contador as you suggest. In fact 100% of those supporting Contador in Spain eat Spanish meat (unless they are vegetarian). 65 million tourist do it also (eat meat in Spain).

Anyway what does your silly argument have to do with the quality of Spanish meat? Contador did not say in which supermarket or butchery his friend bought the meat, because he knows that inmediatly with the traceability they could demonstrate that the providers of meat are perfectly in order. BTW the clembuterol is one of the easiest to detect, even in the hair of the cattle. As far as I could check the other day, there has not been a case in Spain since 1998, as posted with a link to an official report in this forum.

Why are they irrational?

If the same poll was done about any country's sporting heroes most people would instinctively defend their countryman.

Hopefully the health officials will look into the chemicals our animals are fed. We are part of the food chain.

It's natural to want to identify and defend one of your own. It's why Americans were enamoured with Armstrong and continue to disbelieve what all roads suggest he has done.

We are hardcore here we know. Why ruin the myth for all the Americans out there? In this country we have very few heroes. Why not let Americans believe in miracles? I feel good with Jesus why not Armstrong?

Everyone knows the obvious about Armstrong, Contador, etc., etc.

Some just refuse to acknowledge it, but they know it.

You got that right Moose bingo, you really do know our sport.

As an American living in Spain - it's much easier to get a hold of good fresh meat in Spain than it is in the US.

The US's control over foods is plenty bad. Look at recent salmonella and E coli outbreaks as examples. These things used to happen in Spain, when it was still recovering from the direct effects of a long dictatorship, but haven't in a while.

There's no clenbuterol in any beef that Contador ate. He found a story that:
a. appeals to Spaniards who remember past incidents of clenbuterol poisoning and want to believe in a Spanish champion's innocence.
b. appeals to British and Americans who think Spaniards are a bunch of cheaters on every level.
Strikes me as quite a prescient defense, even if clearly completely bogus.

I think you are spot on there. With this story Contador went from being just another doping, cheating cycling champion to being a cycnical opportunist of Armstrongesque stature.

exactly. see also: the "Floyd fairness fund" and "i believe Tyler" - looking back, you would have to be insane to believe their excuses.
