He rode pretty well at the 2005 Giro on GT debut (IIRC) for Gerolsteiner and then at the 2006 Tour he nearly won the white jersey but then he got out time trialled by Damiano Cunego (was Cunego on a motobike instead of a bicycle?) and he was talked about in some quarters to be Germany's next Tour de France star. The following year he won a stage in the Tour of Romandie, but wasn't in good form after that for the rest of the year. The year later he won a stage in Switzerland after Frank Schleck went off road, but still had a poor TdF. And now this year he is riding for Milram and has done the Giro and now he is finishing in the autobus everyday in the Pyrennes.
He really has gone backwards in the last few years. If he is doping, then the drugs clearly do not work.
