2009: Contador, Verbier
2010: Cancellara Flanders-Roubaix
2011: Gilbert, Amstel-FW-LBL

Why is Valverde in Plumelec on the list and not Evans in Montalcino? That stage is regarded as one of the best GT stages in many years and doesn't even get nominated!

Of course i remembered the Montalcino stage. One of the top5 stages of the decade. But i dont find the exhibition of Evans anywhere.

So the question is easy. What is the best exhibition of any rider in the last five years?

And what does that mean?

The top 3 riders cunego vino and Evans on the stage. Did they attack eachother at any point? Is beating cunego in a sprint really more of a performance for the ages than guys like schleck degendt nieve etc doing 50k tts through the alpes ?

zoncolan 2007
leo piepoli on signora della guardia and oropa
tourmalet 2010(more because of the watts, not the outcome)
cancellara 2010 roubaix and flanders
tommeke 2012 roubaix
lele sella's breakaways in 2008 giro
verbier
phil on huy 2011
wiggins itt at the olympics
alberto itt at annecy 2009
cobo angliru's
purito collet d'allevard
andy on the road to galibier

cobo vs froome at the pena cabarga was the bomb though. even if didn't last long

Other suggestions!

J. Rujano on El Escobero and two days later on Alto de la Letras was truly, truly epic.

Fabio Duarte on Alto de la Linea also deserves a mention. In the last 5kms he put minutes into everyone. The clock is ticking, but I still believe F. Duarte is a very rare talent. 2013 is make or break!

Vuelta a Colombia 2009 was absolutely spectacular.

I think the conditions made it a classic stage. With Vino and Evans pushing it along at the front. Not dramatic, just a real hard stage in miserable conditions.

pretty much what you said

My vote goes to Cadel Evans Galibier 2011, who grabbed victory from the jaws of defeat. This was Zoncolan leveled, Verbier vanquished, RvV caught and passed, Sastre undone: I will never forget the way Cadel dashed Andy's hopes, and he repeated it the next day on the same mountain for emphasis.
