If Pog races ‘smart’ he waits for Roche aux Facons. Then I think it is obviously very much ‘his to lose’ if there are no crashes. I suspect He will be almost impossible to follow on that climb based on what we’ve seen in the past two races and the finish is closer than his long solo attempt at AMG.

Evenpoel’s best bet is forcing the issue on La Redoute isolating Pog and making it a tough finale. Pog won’t be able to resist working with Remco i suspect if they get away as a twosome but it will also be where he is most vulnerable and would give Remco the best shot in a 2 up sprint at the end of a long classic.

It is difficult to make a realistic case beyond these two but AMG shows anything is possible and obviously Skjelmose is in very good shape provided he heals up ok after today’s crash

There are no guarantees but logically Pog is the big favorite - a no brainer. He just showed us at FW that he is in imperious form and was obviously just tired at Amstel. What I am finding impressive is his recovery after races. Only PN knocked him around. He should be primed for LBL.

If it comes down to a Pog vs Remco 2 up sprint, who has the best sprint? Surely that is Pogacar?

Pog and Remco takes 1st and 2nd.

Question is who gets 3rd. I go with Pidders, 3rd in the wet in FW is a good sign. Thinks his climbing legs are pretty good since he will do the Giro.

Yes. I think Evenepoel has slightly better chances in a flat sprint (compared to uphill), but in order to even the odds, he would need to push Pogacar on the flat over many kms.
