WHEN to use the IGNORE feature

Cyclingnews.com Forum has been great in creating solutions for the problems that inevitably arise in a forum as large this. I found some good directions on how to use the IGNORE FEATURE, but I haven't seen any suggestions regarding WHEN to use it. So, in the interest of clarity (and as a Junior Member still learning the ropes), I thought I'd list some possible reasons for using the ignore feature. This is by no means to be considered a complete list, feel free to add.
Quixote
Senior Member minus 25 posts

IT'S TIME TO USE THE IGNORE FEATURE WHEN THE OFFENDING POSTER:

1. threatens to come after you with every sock puppet in his arsenal.
2. tries to convince you that Bag Balm on crackers is a good recovery snack.
3. he claims that he's watching every move you make with a high powered telescope.
4. he keeps calling you "mommy".
5. he just won't get past the Cav/Sky issue.
6. claims that by merely reading his posts you'll test positive for banned substances.

7. When you take the forum way way way too seriously.
8. When you can't take constructive or un-constructive criticism from some random person on the net.
9. Can't face the reality that someone might have a different opinion and can't verbalize it just the way you want or in the confines of your safe zone.
10. Are under hard times and anything that doesn't go your way sets you off into a flame post mentality.

once a senior member you can put all the mods on ignore and implement the cloaking device (certain geographic restrictions apply)

well, Quixote, you only need to start 21 more threads and then you will finally attain your goal

Funny...and thanks mewmewmew13. It's exactly like riding a century when you realize how many miles you have left...well, you know, Senior Citizen that you are. So far, I appreciate the forum's patience with my zaniness.
Oh ya, other reasons to use the IGNORE FEATURE on another member:
11. When he simply has no sense of humor!
12. When their post history shows that they've never even visited the What Beer Ya drinking thread.
Cheers mew, one more down...

Just out of curiosity, can a member tell when he is on another's ignore list?
Y...
Señor senior Krebs303...I have come look upon you as a mentor as I pedal my way past the CN obstacles. Thanks for your willingness to help a Junior Member. A man never stands taller than when he kneels to help a youngster (my guess is that I have at least ten years on you!)...but your wisdom has been helpful.
Y Mexico, no? Hablas? De que parte?

13. When their post history shows that they've never even visited the Babes on Bikes or the Men on Machines threads.

While drinking I'm definitely not in a posting mode, then when its done its not like I'm going to run and try to remember what it was I was drinking. Maybe I have posted, but don't remember doing it :D

Well I am 6'8" so no need to get taller and today I turned 61 so definitely old enough.
You will make a fine addition to the forum. Stay away from the Politics thread and only go to the Clinic as needed. You can't cook a goose if you ain't got no heat.
keep your nose clean and your powder dry.

I was learning the ropes just like you Scott:D

poor old Granddad, I laughed at all his words
I thought he was a bitter man
he spoke of the Clinic's ways
they'll trap you and then they use you
before you even now
for dope is blind and you're far to kind
don't ever let it show

I wish that I knew what I know now
when I was younger
I wish that I knew what I know now
when I was stronger
