Women Pro Cycling - hard to find

Hi, I agree, I'm rather new to cycling and am most interested in the women's side of things, and find it difficult - on all cycling websites (including UCI!), not just this one - to pick out what covers womens events. I'm not used to the coding and everything, and I can't figure out when they name an event if it's for men or women. It would be nice to have a "Women's Section" on the web page, listing all events, teams, news, databases etc. relating to women's pro cycling competiton.

I'm following some of the women racers and would be keen to more easily find the women's races in the list. That said, coverage is woeful just about everywhere.

Not sure if a separate section or perhaps a unique icon to help the races stand out is a better method, but something to differentiate would be good.

I dont see why they cant add a womens option to the right of cyclocross and adding all the womens results there, only a matter of adding a tag to all the articles involving girls racing to get them to appear there.

Sorry just noticed this. I am currently working with our development team to import the women's teams/riders. Sorry for not getting to it sooner - we'll aim to get the full db online asap.

Overlooking that fact that it isn't as easy as you think it is to achieve, conceptually your solution doesn't work.

Women cycle in all the road, mountain bike, track and cyclo-cross disciplines and adding an extra layer of navigation just for girls and boys isn't feasible.

We would be interested to hear any other ideas on such navigation you might have though. It could certainly do with improving.

Regarding having a separate women's page, we've discussed this in the past and came to the conclusion that the women should be present on the main sections with all other classes of races: U23, Junior, Elite men and Women - all are of equal importance and are treated as such.

Of course, the ProTour/World Calendar is the most popular for our readers, so these races get top billing, but having the Giro Donne directly below the Tour de France will garner a lot more traffic for the women's coverage than if it was tucked away in some separate section.

Just FYI.

was pleased to see today the giro was towards the top unber the tour.. I think some of the recent hoo-ha was because womens races tended to appear towards the bottom where nobody would notice. Good to see the giro is getting some attention. :D

Nope, that's not the reason. The races generally go in order of UCI classification, although some races where we have special coverage go higher than their allotted spot - ie. a US national race where we have on-site reporters and photographers.

The races generally get bumped up when there is a preview or other relevant content if they haven't started yet.

We always strive to give the women equal coverage.
