Which stage will Chris Froome give Richie Porte as a gift?

Froome will do his best that Porte could win...

I don't know...If top 20 altogether decide to attack Froome at Glandon and Madeleine, it won't happen surely but that's not very likely. But anyways Annecy

Surely you can't be serious. You must be trolling the forum because you damn well know that Andy is coming into form. There will be no stage for Froome to gift because Andy is going to kick their butts. He's been resting patiently, losing time intentionally, relaxing. In the Alps he has no peers - the great Andy will make us forget about all of the other pretenders and show us what a real cyclist can do.

He wants to show everyone that he has learned how to shift, too. So he has an extra fire in his belly this week.

Do you want sincerity? Yes, I'm deeply upset by Andy but I prefer to remain that inside of me and not share my disappointment with others. And it is as 100 times as more solid than the thing most AC fans do: whining about Contador and ridiculing Froome instead of admitting how much superiour the guy is. I'm got used to take positive emotions from the sport and I'm happy for Froome because I expected exactly something like that and was ridiculed during last half-year for that. Plus two my guys are a component of this success. I read 1000 times 'Froome can not attack', 'Froome is not explosive', 'Froome will wait until 1 km to go', 'Froome is zero without his train' and all that jazz so now I'm entirely entitled to get a buzz a little bit.

Froome is by far the best climber in the race, Porte is very close to Quintana and Contador so the victory is possible. For all who thinks differently option 3 is predermined. I'm being serious with the poll.

None. I think Froome wants Alpe d'Huez for himself (winning Ventoux and Alpe in the same Tour - an achievement for the ages) and Porte won't have the opportunity in Annecy, even assuming he has the strength (which is doubtful too).

I don't doubt that Froome would love to give Porte a stage if possible, but I can't see it happening. Certainly not at Alpe d'Huez where he will need Porte to pace him up the second climb. Annecy looks like a stage where the break will most probably take it. I can't see Sky trying too hard to bring the break back.

Actually, Andy could learn one thing from Chris: don't try to change into the big ring, even if it makes you look like wind up doll when you attack:D

Froome should definitely want to win on the Alpe himself. That would be quite an achievement already. Winning on Ventoux and the Alpe same year. And when was the last time the winner won 4 stages - not counting Armstrong? And the Polka dot jersey?

I don't think Froome wants to give anything to anyone. And even if that was the case, Porte is not capable of winning a stage in this Tour.

A) Froome has tried to gift stages to Porte previously and B) Porte is probably still third best climber in the tour, i.e. he could be capable of winning a stage if helped.

Imagine Froome winning all mountain top finishes

Quads is quite possible. I start to think that spaniards hurt Froome so much in the Vuelta in vain. He won't let them to win on principle

if he was to gift anyone a stage i would rather it was to quintana , but he does not come across as the type of guy that is likely to give many gifts .

this guy does not just want to win he wants to dominate and show the world he is a superstar .

Froome gave Spilak a stage at Tour de Romandie. He tried to pull Porte to a stage win at Dauphine but the gap was too large and Porte didn't have the legs. He has also said that he would have given Porte the stage win and overall at Criterium International if he knew that Porte was behind him with a large gap over everyone else. So he is definitely capable of giving a stage.

I don't really see any evidence that Froome wants to dominate. He wants to win the Tour, of course, and that means putting as much time into his rivals as possible. Winning stages is a nice bonus, and will usually happen if the break is caught and he successfully puts time into his rivals.

That said, trying to get Porte a stage win cannot be a priority for Froome. With 2 more hard days of racing to come, he won't be doing this at Alpe d'Huez. Annecy is a possibility if Froome has a large enough lead and, the break gets caught, and none of the other contenders climb better than Porte.

I think that will be the case.

If he wins every mountain AND both TT's, he will have displayed a dominance never before seen.

His top rivals (such as Nibali) might be more likely to focus on the Vuelta and Giro next year.

The "beat them so badly they avoid the next fight completely" strategy might be in place.

But he didn't win the first TT.

Good point. Posting between clients while at work tends to decrease accuracy. Call it a personal victory, distancing his rivals and coming so close to Martin.

If it gets to the point where Froome is able to gift one to Porte I'll be very saddened at what this great sport has become.
