Who do you think is clean?

Here's a question. If you had to bet your life savings, or a similarly large amount of money on a current cyclist being clean (and I mean totally clean - for their whole career - nothing illegal whatsoever) who would it be?

Two rules: 1. The rider must have completed a Grand Tour, 2. You can't say 'impossible they're all at it' - that's just a cop out.

My pick is David Moncoutie

I thought it would make a change from constantly accusing and highlight the good guys for once.

Ricco. Just kidding... Rassy. Ok, ok, Vino (hops back on short bus).

Honestly, do you expect anyone to even bet a theoretical penny on the word of a pro cyclist?

Oscar Freire. He's such a natural.

Juan Antonio Flecha, Thor Hushovd and Andreas Klier.

I secretly think Contador is clean too and is just an unfortunate victim of circumstance and some tainted steak.:D

I agree on Moncoutie by the way.

You're not actually going to lose anything - so give it a go. If you think that every cyclist is doping then you are just repeating what the doping doctors say to get riders to pay them money.

David Millar. Maybe.

I've said before that if Millar were doping now:eek:...he'd have to be one of the most pathological peeps to ever ride a bike. And that is saying somethin'.

So I'd second the DM nomination.

(Not that anything would shock me, however :( )

Say what? If you hold an opinion thats a cop out?

Not that i hold that opinion, but "theyre all at it" is an opinion and you cant say its a "cop out" just to hold it.

To answer your question though, if you want a name, Gerraint Thomas perhaps.

In that 2007 speech, Wiggins labelled Thomas as someone who was doing the Tour on Bread and Water. I dont see reason to doubt that yet, though thats only reffering to Thomas performances at this thing of ours. I can not speak for his track performances as i dont follow that too much.

Pesonaly though i dont see reason to doubt too much anyone in the Gruppeto. Some domestiques i think dope, Szmyd possibly and i agreed with those who in the alps suggested that Contadors mountain goats may have been on something. Garcia de Pena for Mosquera obviously.

But i wont accuse most of them of doping. So another name - Dmitri Champion.

why?
just a random name i thought of.

Am I the only one who is getting tired of these "who is clean? "is so and so clean?" "who is cleaner, X or Y?" threads that keep popping up here?
Maybe we need a special Dream Clinic where we can debate these idiotic premises without cluttering up the serious part of the clinic.:D

I agree.

We should also start a thread of facts and have chapters based on riders names...the "Cyclingnews cyclipedia" of facts. That would be far more interesting.

Then we could reference these facts when disingenious posters 'claim' silly points like "he had a faster cadence and trained more..." whatever.

NW

Counting down the CQ rankings.

5. Farrar
14. Boasson Hagen

Farrar is on a dodgy team but we don't know whether the sprinters get a piece of that cake. EBH crafting his trade at THR is also a bit of a mark.

Maybe Rojas 35, but I'd be happy to stop with Tommy V at 36.

All the ones that dont test positive are suposed to be clean so we are told.

I know he didn't finish, but Kenny Van Hummel. The video of his struggles during 2009 is still one of the best things I have ever watched about the Tour.

He said entire career. So, bzzzztt.

Tommy D? He rode for JB one year. So, I won't put my money there.

Oh sure, I'll get right on it.

I'd add Oscar Freire to that list. As much as I like him, that first World's for which he trained ~1 month was a bit too blatant.

edit: Also, Tommy D in Langkawi (for Saturn?) was a bit ridiculous, too.
