Who made this TdF worth your time?

I would like to know which riders, in *your* opinion made this years TdF fun/interesting/thrilling to watch.

Ofcourse, I'll go first :p

Outside the GC contenders:
1. Hushovd
2. Voeckler
3. Roy

(I realise Voeckler is now considered a GC contender - however, he wasn't from the start, and I still do not think he will win)

The GC contenders:
1. Contador
2. Samu
3. Andy
4. Evans

Btw, Andy and Evans places are purely based on todays performance. Before today, they've done nothing to make the race thrilling imho.

Big kudos to the both, for their performance on this difficult stage though :D

All of them. It's been a great tour and I appreciate every single rider who has got on their bikes this tour. They have been phenomenal.

Gilbert, definitely.

Besides him Andy's ride today, and Vino for those 2 glorious hours he was chasing Costa. Voeckler has been great and Hoogerland made for some interesting conversation. Besides that everyone did kind of what I expected them to do, less than what I expected, or efforts that I didn't really care about.

Hushovd also deserves a mention here, as does Jeremy Roy.

Roy w/o any doubt. And also Bossie, Hushovd, Andy(I can't believe I'm saying this ;p), Bertie, Samu, Gilbert, Vanendert, Cavendish...

Everyone I guess

Just Gilbert, Contador, Vanendert, Samu, Cuddles and Andy. Hushovd and EBH was also impressive, but they were up against smaller names, so I was kinda meh(EBH first win not though, very good).

All the rest are losers like Basso. Cav is no loser though, but he just doesn't excite me.

as good as phillipe and Cav gave been it was expected so I won't count them Thor and EBH both in similar ways. Voeckler for his guts, Cadel for stepping up a notch, Andy for his daring attack and Rolland and Vanendert for emerging as top notch climbers and that's just to name a few.

The Tour finally woke up from its slumber this week and gave us some good racing.

Fine for a one-week race, but this has been a weak GT.

We have an exciting climax, a week 3 showdown, which is what Prudhomme wanted. In fact I think Prudhomme will be ecstatic, since he's got everything he wanted from the race - a week 3 showdown, Contador not winning, Cav in green, GC men likely in polka dots. What's bad about this? It means he's going to keep following this template. Two weeks of flat stages with the occasional pimple, and no GC action until week 3.

As a one-week race, it could be fantastic. Better than Suisse and Asturias, even. But as a GT it's still sorely lacking. If Philippe Gilbert is in your top 10 without long breakaways after two weeks, you simply haven't got a challenging enough race.

The only guys that made the first 2 weeks worth more than a cursory glance were Gilbert and Andrey Amador.

Almost too many to name, its been one of the best Tours in years.

In no particular order:

Hushovd: wasnt a big fan of Thor, his whining about Cav in the sprints a few years ago and some of his antics in the classics put me off. He was back in my good books after KbK last year when he finished all the circuits when he really didnt need to and again this Tour he has shown real guts in holding onto yellow as long as he did.

Voeckler: Wonderful for the french do have a rider in yellow for so long even if ultimately he wont win the Tour. He had his moment today when he udug in and held on by 15 seconds. Will get a lot of drinks on the basis of todays stage from a lot of frenchmen for a long time.

Geraint Thomas: Really came of age this tour. Five days in white, the long break and worked so hard for his teammates both on the flat sprint stages, and in the mountains. One of the hardest working riders in the peloton, and you never once hear him complain. Most people who know cycling knew about him, but I think now everyone knows about him. This is becoming his breakthrough year, strong classics performances, his first gc win, and now a strong Tour.

Eddy Boss: Two stage wins, and with the second one showed he can learn from his mistakes. Another rider that has come of age this tour.

Rolland: Faithful domestique and in the process moved himself up in the overall. Great prospect.

Contador: I think hes won a lot of hearts this tour. Sometimes we just like to see the invincible is beatable and human. I like him a lot more coming out of this tour than I liked him going in.

Evans: If anyone deserves to win this tour de france its Cadel Evans. He has been solid throughout, and really deserved more from today than he got. I hated the old wheelsucking evans, after he won the worlds I wondered if it was a one off but he carried on with the attacking style. If only Evans had discovered this confidence and attacking style ten years ago.

Uran: a lot of pressure on the kid with wiggins going out, but through injury and now a chest infection has kept on battling every inch of the way. Brave young man.

Gilbert: Lit up the tour in the first week, and the second week, and is still giving it a go in the third week. Probably moved himself from classics man, to genuine contender with his performances in this Tour.

Thats mine.

Notable mentions:
Roy, Casar, Al Fares, Hoogerland, Delage, Westra et al that seem to have been in every breakaway.

No Schlecks for me, Frankly, Andys performance today was insane. The guy in the best form right now and all through the race has been Evans and suddenly Andy finds form, out of nowhere and drops everyone, and even Evans at full pelt cant catch him. But thats one for the clinic.

Many people, including the great satans Contador and Andy. Truth be told, other than the three Pyrenees stages I think this Tour has been pretty excellent.
and even Evans at full pelt cant catch him
Evans at full can put 2:30 on him in the final climb, though.

edit: also I think Maltiv just made my list.

Obviously Contador, Sanchez, Evans, Tommy V and Andy. I think Frank may entertain tomorrow.

But Thor, Hoogerland, Roy, and Eddy Boss have been great fun to watch!
