Perfect route for Contador (except the cobbles). Really easy and punchy, but still with some hard MTFs. Just missing a hilly/mountainous ITT. Not a single hard mountain stage and short stages in general (cobbles is 221, Rodez 200, Gap 201 and the rest under 200km, the total distance of the race is ~3340km) should make the Giro-Tour double possible.

Contador.

But if Purito is on his 2013 form, he will have his biggest chance (i don't think he has that form though)

If Dawg peaks for the giro then I dont think AC can do the double

It'd be hilarious if, upon seeing this route, Valverde went all "THIS IS IT, THIS IS THE ONE! MY CHANCE!" and Unzue, absurd as he is, told Quintana to go for the Giro again.

:D But i think Valverde could try to ride all 3 GTs, like Sastre in 2010 .

Whatever it was that they tested on Majka this year, Contador will be able to go deep in both races. No Problem. Both are easy routes.

The Giro route, as soft as it is, won't be easy for Contador if Froome is there FTW. Froome could steamroll that ITT, leaving Contador in the dust, no matter what he is on. He'll have to go thermo nuclear after that to have a shot at winning. (Unless Froome crashes out)

I don't think Contador stands a chance TBH if Froome reaches his past mutant level.

OTOH, Froome could just be trolling Contador right now. I think it's part of the revenue sharing with the teams-thing, though.

Well, it is a perfect route for Valverde. Easy mountain stages and no real ITT.
Yes, it's actually a perfect route for Piti, but I doubt Quintana would appreciate being made to wait another year. Thinking long-term, appeasing Piti no longer makes any sense for the team.

Think about this scenario.

Contador vs. Froome in the Giro.
Contador vs. Nibali in the Tour.
Contador vs. Quintana in the Vuelta.

They get Oleg's money if they beat him and only have to do one each.

If Valverde chooses to do the Flanderen as a warm up, I think he could gain time on the cobbles and a lot of bonus seconds in the hills, he need it for the few long mountain stages. I actually think he will finally podium.

The Tour is also perfect for Purito this year (except for the cobbles) and Horner :D if he can find a team. I'm also excepting Pinot to do well. Mollema, Costa, Konig, Majka, Henao, Bentanur, lots of riders could do well there. Not that good for the likes of Tejay and Talansky.

I'm going to go with Nibali for another win. Froome will most likely go for Giro-Vuelta, Contador will have a hard and heavily contested Giro in his legs and Quintana will lose a bunch of time on the cobbles+possible crosswinds.
