It's hard to look past Froome because he always seems invincible going into a GT (and when he's under-performing it's because he's not trying  ), but I think Nibali will win as long as he avoids cracking badly in the opening week.

It's an odd year, so an odd winner (Aru, Horner, Cobo...). Granted the list ends there but there is a precedent.

Ouch, you think Aru will never win another GT?
He probably will, but he wasn't a favourite at the start of the 2015 race. Similar to Chaves now, so I think he has a good chance along with Kelderman and Pozzo.

Aru was one of the best GT riders of 2015, and other years he's been close.
But was he really a favourite for the victory beforehand?

I wonder what the history of people being considered favourites before winning one is? Dumoulin 2016 Giro? Froome 2013 Tour, Wiggins 2012 Tour, Evans 2011 Tour?

Dumoulin not really (I'm guessing you mean 2017) the rest yes
