Who Would You Rather be Now That it's Hit the Fan?

Now that the proverbial excrement is hitting the fan, who would you rather be? Lance, with 7 extremely tainted Tour victories, no sporting legacy left to speak of, but a fortune of $100million-plus and growing, or LeMond, with 3 unimpeachable victories in the Tour, his role as America's greatest-ever Tour cyclist on the verge of being permanently restored, but material and financial wealth not even close to Lance's?

NOTE: I didn't bother looking up latest estimates of individuals' fortunes, so if you have corrected numbers, please post them here and I'll revise my initial post accordingly.

EDIT: cr@p, I should've added "Floyd" as a third, "joker" choice in the poll!

Where's the poll!

Anyway, I am just hopping the USADA doesn't drop the ball, I'd hate for an early exit due to some lame technicality.

I prefer to be a fan that was always correct ;) I know for a fact I didn't dope as a cycling fan.

I would be interested to know how others now rate Lemond not just among American cyclists, but among all cyclists. Of those with greater palmares, how many had a reputation as clean? Any?

Among the five time TDF winners, I would put Indurain as well as LA below Lemond. Doping or not, I’m not going to put Eddy anywhere but first. I don’t have much doubt that had he raced in the 90s he would have taken all the stuff the other riders did. But he did race in an era when PEDs were considerably less potent. But what about other riders in the pre-EPO era? Hinault? Anquetil? And among other GT greats, Coppi?

Where does Greg stand now, in the opinion of those who know the history of the sport better than I?

Good question.

Quick answer: I think he was perhaps the most naturally talented physiologically. Hinault was more determined and motivated. But not as good all-around. Tough to compare vs. Coppi and Anquetil, I think - almost seems like comparing two incomparable eras?

Modest wealth lol.

Greg's net worth$$ is a lot higher than Lance's.

But I would pick Lance anyway. More important thing than money you know. Or maybe you don't. LiveStrong Joe.

Kinda a LOL schoolboy pass-it-on poll, so naturally i get it!

Lemond, ADD and all...

But if he fights it, although he's stated in MJ that he wont bother, chances are LA's wealth could dwindle quite a bit.

Greg is nothing if not a very shrewd business man.
Very shrewd. Legendary. Do some homework Joe.
Loaded with a capital L
PM RR. Then get back to me.

I will bet that Lance donates more to charity though.

had the good fortune to do some training rides with both of them back in the day - Lemond was a fun guy to be around. Nice, funny, joked a lot. The other guy not so much. Being Greg would be a lot better (and you'd have a sprint).

Not even a necessity to think or hesitate about it:

Greg Lemond was a "truly Cyclist" who cared dearly about the sport-not only by riding "competitively all year round" but also has been an advocate for fairness & anti-doping stands, for the betterment of the sport.

A Legend.

I'll take the money please.

Yeah me too :). Lance will still be hero worshiped by the fanboys regardless what goes down, I'd rather have a bucket load of money and the memories of 7 in a row.

Alright! Glad to hear that there are some at least who'll be honest about preferring the money and the memories of skulduggery.
