Wiggins vs Nibali, Who is the Best Climber in a GT?

It will be discussed more and more as the giro comes near. Collecting it in this thread is the way to go.

Think it depends on gradient and length of climb. Wiggins on a long grind but probably Nibali on steeper section.

I prefer Nibali by far he is underrated in GT'S , but you can only compare them at same time in the Tour 12 , and Nibali did not take a single sec on any climb, infact he lost time stage 7 and stage 17.In the Vuelta 11 Wiggins came out on top but both lacked fitness for us to be able to say , Giro may suit Nibali more.
I hope Basso wins (wont happen though lol and Nibali and Wiggins get on the podium , it would be good for Wiggo to have a podium at each GT he may then gain a bit more respect.

Dude im a massive Nibali fan but , Nibali had an armchair ride on Planche de belle fillies and lost secs , and the stage to Perygoudes where Valverde won . 2 GT'S they raced for gc its 2-0 to Wiggo

Was that a deliberate sleight of hand or actual stupidity?

The thread asks who the better climber is. Yet you call Wiggins a better climber based on a race in which he lost time to Nibali on every climbing stage and got all his time back from the tt and headstart

Wiggins beat Nibali by 94 seconds in the 2009 Tour de France but got 101 seconds from tts alone + a 40 second headstart from stage 4.

Not that the 2009 tour is neccesary relevant since wiggins has improved massively as a climber since hten.

Well sorry I meant Vuelta 11 and Tour 12 which Nibali did not gain any time on Wiggo uphill , so it's pretty obvious Wiggo is a better climber than Nibali.

How old was Nibali in 09 , and no im not stupid. Nibali and Kreuziger were so young then , and I do not have time to remember that far back. I was saying the last two times were they have both been no 1 in their team Wiggo is 2-0

Nibali can handle this neither with train nor alone. Zero mountain solos in the GTs. 0.

I dont see why 2009 should be excluded and 2011 not. Nibali was like many others destroyed by the Giro in 2011 and clearly not on top form while 2009 was their closest battle.

BTW Nibali was 24 (and not too far from 25) which really isnt that young. (though i can see why some sky fans may see anything under 25 as junior)

2009 however was 4 years ago and featured a completely different Wiggins. Granted Nibali has come on a lot as well but if you had told people in 2009 that Wiggins would win le Tour, the Dauphine twice and Paris-Nice they would have ridiculed you. Personally I dont count 2011 either as both were clearly below par. Last year however both were on top of their games and Nibbles simply couldn't match Wiggo in the mountains. Two of my fav riders but Wiggo is the better GT climber. Will be a hell of a showdown though

I think their argument is the Sky train, without it Nibali would have had a way better chance in last year tour.

I've no idea who is better, i guess Wiggins but i wanna wait for the giro. But the problem with Nibali is that he'll prob have one **** day like always.

There isn't any underyling argument to it - everyone just hates Wiggins.

I am sure that if a poll were posted on here saying 'Who is the better time trialist, Wiggins or Jrod' then the result would be very close indeed.

The only interesting poll involving Wiggins would be 'Whom do you hate more, Wiggins or Froome'? However, it would have to be held after Froome wins the Tour this year and has built up the same level of hate as Wiggins.
