So do you think he did or not?the sceptic said:How many tours would he have won if he didnt focus on the track?

Boardman was actually quite a decent climber until he decided he couldn't be bothered with the GC of stage races anymore.Zweistein said:If he was using EPO, he would be the first person who's climbing didn't improve.
And he had problems with low testosterone and retired at 32 because of that. It would be goofy for him to take EPO but not take a steroid for his hormone problem.
You missed the Dauphinee 1995?If he was using EPO, he would be the first person who's climbing didn't improve.

Fearless Greg Lemond said:They have two samples, so, either he is hot, inconclusive, missing or in the green.
And even if he is green he could have been preparing before the Tour. You missed the Dauphinee 1995?

Assuming we are talking about the hour record... there would be a lot of records where the equipment would have been a factor as well as the potential use of PEDs.the sceptic said:In the middle of the dark years i dont know how it would be possible to do that clean. Didnt Rominger get "prepared" by Dr Ferrari for his record?
martinvickers said:I vaguely remember some story that his team actually investigated a genuine TUE for testosterone, but he was uncomfortable with it and it came to nothing- but I genuinely can't pin that down, it could be my imagination.
Then the same could be said of Lemond and Bassons, no?Fearless Greg Lemond said:They have two samples, so, either he is hot, inconclusive, missing or in the green.

Clearly he should have tried for a TUE again in 99.andy1234 said:They asked the UCI for a TUE for testosterone in 98, but the UCI turned it down.
The UCI claimed it had to restrict TUE approval, in the light of the Festina affair![]()

The record Boardman broke in 2000 (?) where he used comparable equipment to Merckx was just by 10m or so. I think Merckx also went out like a bullet to try and beat various records along the way. The samples he gave for this he left to be tested indefinitely I believe.
