I do hope most Americans do indeed know what the Swiss flag looks like.
Of course, there are probably gonna be some who doesn't - you can find whole posts with Americans not knowing what the US flag looks like - but those people probably aren't interested in anything going on outside the US.

The 46 km time trial isn't technical, and doesn't have a lot of corners, besides the descent. It has three intermediate time checks, spaced about 10-14 km apart, providing ample data points to gauge how each rider is performing throughout the race.

In a German podcast, one of the coaches said that he expects speeds of around 110-120 kph - which he deems as potentially unsecure on a time trial bike. Especially as it comes right after the climbing sections, so riders will be tired, and is followed by a corner at the bottom of it.

Just took a look, the first 3 parallel roads to either side of the one they're taking are all at least a little less steep. It makes absolutely no sense to design the route this way, and although I think it's likelier than not that nobody crashes, the result of a crash into the barriers in the corner at those speeds doesn't bear thinking about...

Well, what approach is Italy supposed to have? All-in for Ulissi? They need to get their guys into the right group to have a chance at a medal.

Don't understand personally, going 7 laps on fairly difficult circuit at race pace set by guys w leg reveals in TDF, Vuelta, Canada, so do you attack Hirschi, Roglic , Pogocar, Remco? Italy best to do like everyone else, wait for final lap, no dramatic anything with the amount of climbing. If MvP says it's a hard race design, why not listen to his expert opinion. Don't see Italy or anyone else having some sleeping surprise talent that is set for a coming out party in Zurich. Best to save what gas you have in your tank and hope for a phenomenal last 27k. Many federations sending human bodies, it won't be as bad as Olympic race where @50% are schit out the back in first few kilometers, but it's going to be close for road race,

30km too short for a world championship

This would be good for a short ITT in a GT

The worlds TT has never been that long though, it’s only been over 50km 7 times in 31 editions. In that respect this is a very standard length.

I think he was talking about the WCITT being more than 75 kms. Which has never happened and as such is a rather ridiculous thing to moan about.
