NED for World Championships. RR: Dumoulin, Gesink, Hoogerland, Kelderman, Mollema, Poels, Slagter, Ten Dam, Weening. TT: Terpstra, Westra.

Any idea on who will be leader? My pick would be Weening for his one-day talents, with Gesink/Slagter as back-ups. Mollema and Ten Dam will be too exhausted.

The length of the TT probably doesn't suit Westra but does the flatness help?

Any word on who will be riding the TT for Norway?

There won't be any starters from Norway in the mens elite ITT. Neither EBH nor Thor wants to ride and there really aren't anyone else with a chance of a top 20 placing so they chose not to pick anyone.

Colombia probably will have Quintana,Henao,Uran,Betancur,Atapuma,Duarte and Duque(road captain). For the other 2 places I see a battle between Chalapaud,Arredondo,Rubiano,Duque,Anacona and Sarmiento.

You repeated Duque in the second group.

I think you have to include Serpa. He is reliable and could be a valuable workhorse.

Ireland has three absolutely obvious, nailed on, picks: Martin, Roche, Deignan. They are the three highest profile Irish riders, they have all have had recent success, and the course suits them all.

Then there's a fourth choice... which could go to just about any Irish rider on any Pro Conti or Conti team anywhere. The strongest rider is probably Brammeier, but it's hardly a course that suits him, and somebody in the Cyclng Ireland set up seems to have it in for him, as he never seems to be selected for the national team. The last slot could go to him, or Phil Lavery (Cofidis stagiare) or Ronan McLaughlin (An Post) or Conor McConvey (Synergy Energy Baku) or God only knows who else.

Personally, I'd take Brammeier. He's a strong lad and is used to a tougher racing programme than the other contenders. He's hardly going to be a factor in his own right on a course like this, but it can't hurt to have one rouleur along.
