Would be nice to see the team selections before making a vote, but I hope for BMC. I read somewhere they were having a pre camp in Italy before the race so the obviously putting much energy into getting a result here.

Who do you think will win? I think it's between the top three in the TdF TTT and
Depends on the teams. If Sky have Porte wiggins froome and thomas then yes them. But will be interesting to see Omega Pharma and BMC too.
I went for Sky because Geraint Thomas will have a functioning pelvis.

Well, Sky had Thomas injured but maybe had you taken a less nationalistic approach to your TDF viewing you would have noticed that Sky were far from the only team that had injury problems for that ttt.

1 of the teams that beat Sky had their tt leader Tony Martin coming back from a crash that caused him to lose conciousness, same day as Thomas broke his pelvis.

That is the 2 time defending world Individual Time Trial Champion Tony Martin, also the reigning world ttt champion together with the other Omega Pharma lot.

Then there was Garmin where Hejsedal rode the ttt with a fractured rib.

Saxo meanwhile who finished a few seconds behind Sky had Contador with back problems and then a spectator took out their big flat engine - Noval at the beginning of the tt.

And then there were another dozen or so riders that crashed with varying levels of injuries. Ted King for example, though on a team that couldnt challenge, but enough to cause him to finish ott. Similarly Astana rode with 8 men though they wouldnt have challenged.

BMC who should have won last years world ttt champiosnhips (they lost by a handful of seconds after TJVG dropped everyone on the Cauberg) had 2 of their riders from that ttt championships crash in the first stage.

Well said Hitch. This one is too close to call IMHO. The OPQS team looks very strong but OGE have a few very strong TTT riders who weren't at the Tour such as Durbridge and Hepburn. BMC and Garmin will certainly challenge, as will Movistar and Saxo.

IF Sky take Wiggins, Froome, Porte AND Thomas then it might be a bit more predictable but this could fall any way

A team sky squad of Wiggins, Froome, Porte, Kiryienka, Thomas and Cataldo would be pretty hard to beat but I can't see Froome doing it and Wiggins and Porte aren't definites. My guess for the podium is OPQS, Sky and OGE.

How is Wiggins going to be riding given that the last stage of the Tour of Britain is on the same day as this event?

I don't see Sky being a factor anyway. The form just isn't there post-Tour. OPQS and BMC will probably battle it out for the win but we need to see the squads first.

I'll wait for the teams to be announced. But I expect BMC and Orica to do well. OPQS and Sky could also do well depending on who they bring.

lol at the OPQS team, no contest. Only the six best RLT riders all in amazing shape could stop them.

Saxo aren't bad. BMC will not have GVA or Gilbert so at best Evans/TJVG/Phinney/Schar/Bookwalter/Pinotti don't know if any of these are unavailable or not (Evans will probably stay home until the Friday so Oss or Quinziato in).

Sky will not have Wiggins/Stannard and probably no Froome either.

Great team for OPQS, definitely favourites. A good team for BMC but don't think the flatness suits TJVG and Evans' TT results haven't been what they used to be.

For Sky, EBH, Knees or Siutsou could step in for Wiggins and Froome and they'd still be capable of getting on the podium. Last years team doesn't fill me with much hope that they'll select the best available though.

Well depends on the team selctions. Anyway, great that after 10 years we get to see a real TTT again. 58 rolling km, that'll be cool.
Still, i can't understandwhy they didn't bring back the national team 100km 4 man squad, instead.

OGE can field a very strong team of mostly ex Team Pursuiters that would challenge. Lancaster, Meyer, Durbridge, Hepburn, Tuft and Mouris would be a strong team.

That OPQS team looks like the benchmark though

Yes, most likely. Italy, Belgium, Spain and the USA would be roughly as strong though.

There would be many good teams though

Just naming six good riders for TTT from the top of my head for a few major countries:

Froome, Wiggins, Dowsett, Stannard, Thomas, Cummings
Durbridge, Evans, Meyer, Dennis, Rogers, Porte
Contador, LL Sanchez, Castroviejo, Ion Izagirre, Valverde, Plaza
Malori, Pinotti, Boaro, Cataldo, Nibali, Benatti
Chavanel, Peraud, Gallopin, Roy, Coppel, Le Bon
Gilbert, Boonen, Vandewalle, Devolder, Monfort, De Gendt
Westra, Terpstra, Boom, Dumoulin, Kelderman, Gesink
Phinney, Van Garderen, Talansky, Zabriskie, Bookwalter, Danielson
Martin, Kloden, Schumacher, Gretsch, Degenkolb, Grabsch

Would be a very exciting race imo! I'd think it much more exciting than the current race.

True. That would be good fun. Swap Millar for Cummings and I think on paper at least GB is the strongest.

So presumably Porte will be too. Froome never goes anywhere without him.

If Froome, Porte, Thomas, EBH, Kiryienka and Cataldo were all in top form then they could challenge but they aren't and Wiggins is a massive loss.

Anyone know their riders? Apparently this is a picture of the Radioshack riders at their TTT camp.
