hmmm, if there was not that uphill finish section it would be disappointing route (disappointing means "for Cav" :D), but now it could be any powerful sprinter (Thor, Tyler, Tom...). For hilly classic riders it's too short ascent.

Very interesting music choices.
The song at the end is a real gem. Savage Garden cover, I believe. How to turn an awful song into an even worse one.

Anyway, the course looks more or less like I expected it to be. Maybe a little hillier even. Like always, it doesn't have to be a mass sprint.

The Elite Men's Road Race starts at the City Hall Square in central Copenhagen before heading towards the 14 km circuit, which is placed in the municipality of Rudersdal, north of Copenhagen. It's a pretty area, but obviously not very challenging, hill-wise. At least not for seasoned pro's.

The Time Trials, though, are more Copenhagen based. So there'll be plenty of sights of the actual city.

Here's the official homepage of the event.

And here's a promotion video with a short glimpse of (parts of) the TT route and highlights from the final stage of Tour of Denmark 2010, finishing on the Worlds circuit.

I don't think it's terrible to have a flat-ish worlds course every few years, and don't think that Cav is a sure thing either. Remember that this time last year we were all certain he would win in Australia.

Well, I'm sure Cavendish will be amongst the ones battling it out for the win if he participates:)

Obviously a slighty uphill finish benefit some of the other top sprinters, and "The Dish" might be hanicapped by a less-than-stellar leadout train - I mean, it's not exactly the HTC train perfected to put him in an almost unbeatable position.

Thor might make the double WC next year actually. But I'm rooting for Breschel, Freire or Sagan;)

i shall start watching with 500m to go.
Certainly a finish for the likes of thor, tom, friere... I wouldn't put it past someone like gilbert, Breschel or even martens having a shot at the end also.. these guys pack a pretty good sprint--esp. uphill.

I would hope that with Cav spending less time at the dentist and more time racing in 2011 he might earn himself some more team-mate slots for Copenhagen. Who knows, maybe Wiggo will even manage to rack up some wins.

Hushovd, Breschel, Martens, Freire, Boonen, Pozzato...
or a break 800m from the finish from Cancellara, Kolobnev, Vino or Terpstra :)

I'm pretty disappointed the Road Race doesn't use more of the Copenhagen City centre. Instead it's just a fairly flat "could be anywhere" suburban area.

That's more the business.

Looks perfect for EBH and Hushovd. Two in a row for Norway? :p

I'm glad the finish is uphill, else they could've just handed the victory to Cavendish already. At least an uphill sprint means there are other guys who can win.

Would be cool to see Thor do a back to back.
Other people i'd like to see win

Tom Boonen
Oscar Freire
Andre Greipel

Also, Matti Breschel. I kind of felt bad for him this year at the worlds. His reaction when Thor raised his arms after winning. So maybe 2011 will be his year. I'm a Garmin fan, but I don't see Tyler winning.

Anybody's good as long as I don't see Cavendish crossing the line first.

Horribly slow vid. Atleast it is here so I haven't seen it so far.

Having a flat WC isn't something I'm particular happy about, but it's fair toward riders that don't like hills... Aslong as the 2012 till 2015 will be more challenging then this I can live with it.

Let's hope the riders will make a spectacle of it else it's gonna be a zzzzzz race.

At least us Danes wont have to watch it on TV and can go watch it live instead!! I'm sure I would be bored out of my pants watching it....But now I'm looking forward to seing the riders live (haven't been to a race since TDF ´06)

Yeah... I have sorta begun considering going to watch it live. (That's the great thing about bike racing, you don't need to get tickets)
But then again, it's in September, right? But on a Saturday...
Whatever, I've got time to make up my mind...

Sunday.

If you cant make that.

You could always go to the u23 and womens timne trials on wednesday, the mens time trial on thursday, u23 road race on friday or the womens road race on Sunday.

I suppose to watch live, the time trials cant be bad, because you see someone new every minute or so. and you can try to guess who it is. If you pick a nice hill spot you can also egg them on personaly.
