Frank Schleck, Basso and Menchov should be the only ones in the running for this one. I voted FS, but you really can't go wrong (right) with any of the big three.

:D

I went with Moncoutié. Not sure if he's the worst, but he's awful since he's so friggin' scared when going downhill.

I voted Basso. I have never seen someone losing so much time as Basso did in the 2006 Giro in the stage to La Thuile. He almost lost the 2010 Giro in a descend, if that descend had been 2 kilometers longer Arroyo would possibly have won that Giro.

I can remember a particularly bad descend of Ignatiev as well, I think it was in the Giro. Judging by the last Dauphiné, Gesink seems to have improved his descending a bit.

i went with basso. he gets scared with descends. i remember piepoli leaving him being on a wet descend in the 2006 giro like if basso was standing still and ofc last years giro. even with nibali showing him the way he can't do it.

i voted basso over frankie boy because basso is actually afraid while frank does take the risk.

btw if arroyo had bridged across basso tbh the only thing happening would be basso storming up gavia and leaving arroyo minutes behind again :p

I'd never heard of Sastre and Bottle being particularly bad descenders.

sastre is pretty bad, same with joaquim rodriguez but there are worse like basso, intxausti, rujano, frank schleck and menchov

gesink was never really bad at descening. another myth, because of that one paris nice downhil when he was exhausted

Me neither, but Leechheimer has admitted to being scared on descents, saying he'd rather get dropped, than take unnecessary risks, which he thinks is all too common in the peloton. Or something to that effect.

he has no need to be scared, he always carries his Road ID with him :D

A little more to 2010, he was almost caught even with a top-descending teammate in Nibali leading the way.

it seems that most guys that have wore a orange kit in the past or present are very iffy bike handlers therefore bad bike descenders. the worst of all could be me though, two years ago i rode to mt baldy and on my way i passed some cat 1 girl and got to the top like 15 minutes behind her but she caught me within the last two miles during the descent.

You forgot to mention Mr Worst Descender for multiple years Soler; back at Barlworld days I heard from an ex team mate that they were keeping distance from the colombian during the downhills and the team management did also some physicall tests to see if he had anything wrong (to cause the many falls).

I voted Basso, but that Schleck video almost made me change my mind. It's one thing to lose time, but to crash for no reason like that is crazy.

Hard for me to make fun of bad descenders because I'm one of them, myself. I'd have to agree with Leipheimer that I'd rather go a little slower than fly off the side of a mountain.
