I doubt there's anyone who both follows the sport and rides a bike that hasn't, even if only for a brief while, let their imagination run riot and, while out on a club ride, a training session or even their daily commute, put themselves in the place of a pro cyclist in a GT or Classic:)

But, would you, could you, really bring yourself to actually do it?

Definately.

Haven't touched a racing bike in 10 years though. Now that I'm 30 and look at Horner I feel my time has come. lol.

It's not going to happen, but yeh if I could make my money with cycling I would love that.
It's not an easy life though...

Crashes, whereabouts, media. Just to name 3.

No. Being a pro rider wouldn't be my cup of tea.
Like Zam_Olyas said, I'd jump at the chance of being a journalist or DS. Possibly even a mechanic. Although that's low-paid long hours, I'd do it for some time, like a couple of races or a season or two, to experience the whole thing. I'd need to learn the skills first though...

Nah, I wouldn't. Riding your bike as a living 300 days a year wouldn't be satisfactory for me. Especially because there won't be much energy left to do other things. Besides, it's a hard sport, I'm not sure I would be able to put myself in so much pain just to be first or second or 23rd somewhere.

I would have liked to give a serious shot at it-A friend of mine from my infancy who I used to ride with made it to PRO ranks & his memoirs are amazing -although I'm very pleased with my current profession.:)

Never. Never ever ever ever.

I remember reading Chris Hoy say that sometimes, pushing yourself till you are physically sick, and doing it day after day, is just too much.

I just dont think its worth it.

Oh and the crashes and the needles, also horrible.

thats why I admire those who do it so much.

Nah. Last year i did some running for a team where we pushed ourselves until we literally threw up. Lets just say its not actually so fun. Wouldn't want to do that full time. I'm pretty sure Cav has talked about throwing up to stay in contact with the peloton. I'd rather just watch the race. They can do the suffering.

I just got done teaching a bunch of students who could care less, so why not give it a shot? I wouldn't have to worry about how scary the descents are because my heart would probably give out a quarter of the way up the first climb:)

Oh yes I would.. Only 19 but with the form of a turtle on the dry right now, still dropping my friends easily on my little citybike who train atleast 3 days a week on condition training etc.. In the middle of a study though and my god I have no idea where I'd have to race at all..

Only racing bike I've got is a 1990s Peugeot with gear shifting still attached to the tube :D.

But hell yes I would love to. :p

No! I'm way too lazy for that! I love to watch other people suffer, I don't want to suffer myself!
