Yorkshire to host 2019 worlds

http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/yorkshire-wins-bid-to-host-2019-road-world-championships/

The UCI announced Yorkshire as the host for 2019 after a vote by the UCI Management Committee in Qatar at this year’s event. The UCI has already announced that the 2017 World Championships will be held in Bergen, Norway, with Innsbruck in Austria hosting the 2018 races. Hosting the 2019 World Championships is excellent news for British Cycling, that has been hit by a series of scandals in recent weeks and months.

Lots of short, sharp climbs on tiny roads in shitty weather? Count me in! Imagine the course will be quite similar to the second stage of the 2014 TDF but more aggressively raced as it's a one day race. Could do a very lumpy TT through Sheffield as well.

A lot will depend on where the final circuit is. Sheffield or Halifax would be most ideal based on terrain, character of possible course and size of population, but several towns and cities have plenty interesting to offer. Only a couple of viable options that would be stinkers. Should be a puncheur's type course unless they go for a cobbled-type route.

Hmm, I suppose it was to be expected with the latest UK craze in cycling. Yorkshire has potential but I'd have rather seen Colombia (forgot which city) get it.
Same, but I'd want Colombia over pretty much anywhere anyway, so I won't complain. Colombia is due to a WC with the riders they have at hand tho, would be spectacular.

Globalisation of the sport of cycling my ***. Just whatever city could make the most revenue it seems, which only gets fuelled with this Qatar disaster. Third time in a row now that Boyaca made a solid bid and got snubbed.

Seems Colombia is going for the 2020 Worlds, hope they get it. At least the Worlds in Yorkshire will attract huge crowds for every event which you obviously want.

Nothing wrong with Yorkshire obviously, their Grand Depart was great. Just frustration that a real cycling country gets snubbed time after time again while this cash cow called Qatar basically buys their way in. Great job Cookson.

There's more people on the actual podium than in front of it.

Tbf Yorkshire loves cycling, and it's a long time since the UK last had a WC (goodwood in the eighties I think) whereas Colombia had 1995. It's also logistically more painful for riders and teams, so after two years of difficulty I guess they've gone for three pretty easy ones. I think they'll get 2020. They have a bit of money too, so that shouldn't be a problem. Then Vicenza 2021, I guess.

Well, again, nothing against Yorkshire. Nothing but praise for their Grand Depart a few years ago, but I would've like to have a WC outside of Europe again. After Qatar we have Bergen, Innsbruck and Yorkshire. That doesn't necessarily have to be Colombia. Though I feel like 'we' deserve it, not just because Colombian riders are amongst the best on the world, but also because the '95 were a classic. Of course, you need the countries to make bids, which I haven't really put research in, but China - or Japan for that matter - or Brazil (both had amazing road races in the Olympics) and Australia seem like great alternatives.

Colombia (Boyaca) is running to host the 2020 Worlds, not 2019

There was a Colombian city that made a bid for the 2019 Worlds, not sure if it was Boyaca.
Obviously Boyaca should get the 2020 Worlds, if not the UCI loses even more credibility.
