Youth CQ Ranking Game 2013 (The Finale)

This year I started a CQ ranking game based on young riders (u23s and neopros), over on Velorooms. As the first year of the game enters the finishing straight there is a very exciting tussle for the top spot - with some CQ game heavyweights fighting it out.

Next year I will introduce the game on CN as well - you can read about the rules here, and I hope many of you CQ game nuts will join the 2014 edition. I will post the last few updates for 2013 in this thread to get you all in the mood

Update 9.3 - Search sweats

The competition behind search heats up this week and there are now 5 teams within a 100 points of his hot seat. The main surge comes from Froome19 who combines Barguil(98), Arndt (40) and Coquard (22) for a total of 160. Also mixing it up this week is ingsve with Barguil, Coquard, Lutsenko (22) and Senechal (10) for 154. The weekly leader however comes from the other end of the table as Hilltopfinisher can temper his disappointment in missing out on the Vuelta CQ win with 176 points, with Stuyven contributing 40 points and Wellens 21.

Update 9.4 - Bubbles Bonanza as Yates Yields points

For the second time in two weeks the highest scorer this week comes from the bottom 5 as bubbles combines 89 points from Yates with 14 points from Dennis and 5 from Senechal in the TTT to be the only team this week to break 3 figures with 108. Yates (cost 2 points return 164) now looks to be the best unique rider choice beating ingsve's pick of Enger (cost 4 points return 172). Search stretches out his lead by 4 points thanks in part to Reichenbach's 30 points from the Tour of Britain GC. Froome19 is now joined in second place by ingsve. With places in the top 3 points this week comodoro and Fleur edge close to the podium spot. Mellow Velo drops out of the top 5 but already has points in the bank for next week with Hansen's third place in the u23 ITT.

I'm pleasantly surprised to be sitting 8th currently. I guess my prediction that Von Hoff would be decisive didn't hold :p

I was going to quote you on that recently. I think your exact words were that you were surprised Von Hoff wasn't more popular and that he would be on the winning team. That could still very easily happen as he is on search's team.

Update 9.5 - A whirlwind at the worlds

After World Championship week, the rankings are shuffled and our leader for the last six weeks now drops to 3rd. It would have been 4th if not for 5 extra points coming the way of Reichenbach, as CQRanking altered his placing/points attributed for the Tour of Britain GC. Froome19 takes on the mantel of the new leader, with points from Rohan Dennis and Louis Meintjes, Although no-one picked our new u23 World ITT Champion Howson, two teams have Mohoric on their rosters Blackbandit222 and skidmark. The top points haul for a rider this week comes from Quaade with 82 points for 6th in the Worlds ITT (and also 12 points from Duo Normond). La Mouron Rouge combines the young danes points with points from the u23 road race and ITT, for the weeks top score of 173. (weeks points column now added)

With a month of the main part of the season left, there are less than 100 points between the top 6, our leaders are approaching a 250% return and all but one of our teams has made it into profit.

I think I have proved the concept now. I did mention it a few times last year in Hugo's thread, and there are a few CNers in this year's edition, but will make more of splash about it here in the run up to 2014 (hence this thread). Will be glad to have an entry from you after your consistency in the GT games.

Update 10.1 - Ingsve inches closer, search slips slightly

In a week of relatively few points, all the leading teams had fairly strong weeks (thanks in part to Coquard). Froome19 maintains his 1st place, but will perhaps rue Rosa's strong showing in Lombardia didnt bring in more points. Ingsve is only 15 points behind in second and was within just a few points at one stage as results were coming in. Comodoro rides some late season form from Hofland to move in to 3rd. As search points out crashes lost him crucial points, but no doubt his riders will be keen to get those disappointments behind them. Top scorer for the week Mellow Velo re-enters the top 5, with 32 points from Dylan van Baarle.

Update 10.2 - Comodoro conquers all

In a dramatic week comodoro leapt up 2 places from third and takes what looks to be an unassailable lead. With 54 points from Bongiorno and unique points from Zardini and Aberasturi his weekly total of 138 is only bettered by the all italian team of Zam which included a monster week from Villella of 112 points contributing to a total of 207 points. The impact of comodoro's total is increased as none of the previous week's top 5 get within 100 points. Zam is also close to clinching the Non-Coquard Cup.

Update 10.3 Fleur flirts with final flourish

With the 3rd best points tally for the week Fleur is now in touch with the podium and is provisionally above search with further points from Hofland today, (NB the update includes Hofland's points from Monday). At the top comodoro also with Hofland in his ranks, as well as Verona (45 points), extends his lead to over 100 points. As the only team with both Hofland (75) and Dombrowski (62) MADRAZO is the leading points scorer for the week.

With Hofland racking up 23 points a day (plus bonifications) and a likely high finish on GC, is there anyone left who can challenge comodoro? Will Fleur be his closest rival by the end of the week?

Update 10.4 - Hofland hovers up points in Hainan

With a stunning points haul since the latest update (CQ missed out on its weekly update prior to this one) Hofland makes a dramatic impact on the fortunes of the 3 teams with him in. Comodoro is all but confirmed as champion, Fleur leaps into 2nd place and MADRAZO rockets up the table to 3rd. MADRAZO takes the weekly honours thanks to an extra 5 points from Lavieu.

I propose that comodoro is crowned champion, and frankly I can't see that any places in the top 10 are likely to change other than, a remote chance Froome19 can catch MADRAZO if Meintjes goes on a tear in African CC and Tour of Rwanda, or perhaps more likely skidmark can overtake ingsve if Grmay can eek out 21 points. The Arbiter may also sneak into the top at the expense of Fowsto Cope-E on the back of good performances for Meintjes.

So I propose comodoro is made champion and I will perhaps do updates to settle the minor places if the need arises. If anyone objects let me know and we can discuss both viewpoints to find a consensus.
