Queen Stagiare and 18 Valve share not only Kuss, whose status as winner-elect for a bargain price has given them a huge margin over the rest, but also the very popular, and reasonably-well-but-slightly-less-well- than- hoped-for performing Ayuso and Vlasov.

So the competition between them consists of

So it turns out that this minor classification is the place to find the excitement and close battle this time around. DJSprtsch's sprinter heavy team only gets one man in the points today, and for the first time since he replaced Redhead Dane (yes, really) on stage 3, We have a different leader. But only just...

Edit: only on the points for the day.
Not that I can see. Can you give an example of what doesn't look to add up?
Ah, I see it now. I had somehow removed Dainese's GC points from the calculation of his total score, but only after I had reported his daily change in score.

So that is indeed 15 extra points today for those 14 teams. I will edit the post above, thanks.

If you are interested enough in the workings of the spreadsheet to wonder how it happened:
(One of my steps is to copy values for column H to column L, because column L on the Results tab is the one I sort by and then cut and paste from no matter which ranking I am giving. In a brainfart, I did that procedure on the Rider Score tab instead of the Results tab. I soon noticed and corrected it, but I should have corrected it by 2 CTRL-Zs (one for doing it in the top row (Dainese's row), and one for the dragging that down to all the other riders, but I only did it once, hence the error remained in the top row.)

Seeing as the green points seems to be where the only remaining competition is, I may as well show the factors at play between Queen Stagiare and DJSprtsch, as I did with QS and 18 Valve in the red points a couple of days ago.

They share Groves (and the 8 teams with Groves are all in the top 9, Scrooll07 being the interloper) and also Ayuso and Vlasov ( the 2 most popular picks in the game, and also both held by the teams in 3rd to 6th), so what makes them stand out from the distant chasers, and what will make the difference between the two of them, is the remaining 5 riders:

If today goes with a break, I suppose Lopez, Caicedo or Cras could feature; if not, some points for Uijtdebroecks or Kuss are plausible.
But most likely it comes down to Dainese vs Molano + Van den Berg on Sunday.

At least something in this Vuelta is still competitive.

Search is the only one of this morning's top ten to score, so moves a bit closer to the top two. And if Van Eetvelt and Tiberi first and second tomorrow, he could still win this.
Redhead Dane enters the top ten by turning it into a top eleven.

A good day for Dainese tomorrow could put Search on the podium and secure the double for Queen Stagiare; a poor day for him could see DJSprtsch hold that podium place and take the minor classification. Beyond that, there really isn't much more to battle over. There is only a small gap between 3rd and 4th in the Four Seasons title, but both teams involved (Devil's Elbow and DJW) have both Dainese and Groves, and no other sprinter.

But there are some small gaps in the table, so probably a few token pride places are available.

Van Den Berg as well as Groves for DJSprtsch, which is relevant not just for the daily spoils.

Final Green Classification standings
it was about whether Dainese could hold off Molano and Van den Berg: Dainese did indeed finish ahead of Molano (25th vs 74th), but Marijn van den Berg was 3rd from the peloton, and 7th overall, and tat was enough to return DJSprtsch to the top of this table.

As usual, not much on a final stage other than the sprint points, but it's necessary before we can confirm results.

Final Main Game standings
A dominant win, as has been apparent for some time, for Queen Stagiare: picking winners of Red and Green and White jerseys, with two more of the top ten and an additional stage winner makes for a team that would always be hard to beat. 18 Valve took second place by sharing the confidence in Kuss, and DJSprtsch's sprinters held of Search's challenge for the last podium spot.

Congratualtions to both winners and all podium/top ten/not last finishers (depending on your degree of confidence in your selection).

Thanks to the riders, PCS and CQ websites, all entrants (without whom this would be rather pointless) and to Evans is the Best for help at the preparatory stages.

Number crunching in a day or two. And an update maybe late tonight for the Women's CQ game.

Congrats to QueenStagiaire for a dominant win and 18_Valve for sharing the faith in Kuss. I'm a bit sad that Kuss did so well and deprived DJ Sprtsch from the win since sprinter heavy teams rarely shine in those competitions.

Thanks to Armchair for hosting.

As for my team, it was terrible Vuelta and the only nice thing I can say is that I should juuust about keep the lead in the 4 seasons challenge.

Kuss scored 888 points, DJ Sprtsch was 840 points back. 48 points is equal to 28th on GC with zero stage points - even ahead of the race, you would have expected Kuss to easily clear that bar so long as he didn't DNF. QueenStagiaire had a fantastic team with or without Kuss, it's a richly deserved victory.

Four Seasons title
As he predicted, Evans is the Best managed to hold on to his lead despite an underwhelming Vuelta performance. A lead of more than 300 points at the start of the fourth event was reduced by nearly 200 by TRiley, but Evans retained the lead, followed by DJW, who turned a 84 point deficit to Devil's Elbow into a 23 point advantage for the third podium step in the contest for consistency and loyalty to the games.

I didn't mean to diminish Queen Stagiaire victory by any means. Both by winning margin and total score it has to be right up there with the very best GT squad in the history of those games (maybe Armchair can confirm). Pretty insane that you can take out the rider that won the GC from their squad and replace them with a random finisher and they still podium. I was just voicing the fact I would have liked to see a sprinter heavy team triumph instead of a GC heavy squad as usual.

Yeah, me too.

and an honourable mention to VAN POPPEL Danny, who got more than his cost (21 points) on stage points alone (25), and was picked 5 times.

The best possible team I can fond purely for targetting the green points competition would be

If I have got that correct, then Queen Stagiare's score is 91.4% of the best possible, which I strongly suspect breaks any record comfortably (I noted Postman Hat's 83% as notably high in the Tour game). I haven't looked up highest total or winning margin records as EitB mentions above, but I would suggest that this is a statistic that might never be broken in these games. QS has 6 of these eight, but had Dainese and Osborne (110 points between them) in place of Poels and Cras (330 for the pair).

To our credit, all of the Best possible team were selected. This time around, the Collective Ignorance team is very modest, the best I can find is

Could it have been worth really splashing out? With the Jumbo Visma post-Angliru pact, no, but I think the best possible team with Vingegaard was

Evenepoel was more expensive, and yielded fewer points, so a team based on him would have scored worse still.

The Impeccable picks list is shorter than usual, mainly because if you spent more than 391 points on anyone without already having Kuss in your team, you chose badly.

The DNF effect
28 riders failed to finish the race, exactly half of whom had been chosen. Dunbar and Romo were the two most popular DNFs, and Arensman the most costly that affected us. Only Aular significantly mitigated his withdrawal by having a halfway decent haul of points (50) before he withdrew.
Teams in final game order, with the number of DNFs they had and the nett cost (price minus any stage points they had gained)

Rufs seems to have suffered most.

I suppose I should have included the inventor of the spreadsheet in my thanks.

I'll see most of you for the Chinese legs of the Women's WT game, and/or for a couple more Emerging Riders updates before the year is out.

I have one more game formulating in my mind, but the website that I will need is not doing what it did last year. Perhaps...

This squad would still finish 27th.
