The rider still needs to think of eating it though, however well calculated or distributed. Siebergs point was, that VdP apparently has a history of forgetting to do so. But tbf, I think he was grasping for straws.
In the worlds maybe without comms, but MVDP is on remote control with team car telling him when to eat and they also bring the food to him now as he's' > time gap to move up to him.
 
The only thing I see that didn't happen, is that we didn't see a 60kmh crash, where someone broke their face...I'm okay with that...but I'm politically correct like that.

I'm left wondering whether people were watching prior editions thinking "oh, if only there was a chicane right before the trench, it would be so much better!".

Or were they simply enjoying the spectacle?

It's a valid question.
