Teams & Riders Everybody needs a little bit of Roglstomp in their lives

He lost the Tour because he blew up in an uncharacteristic and ragged TT. One stage that surprised his entire team and him.

    Giro d'Italia Giro d’Italia 2024, Stage 7: Foligno – Perugia, 40.6k (ITT)

perhaps he's trying to channel Liggett's dramatic phrasing as though these events are historical. Or hysterical; whichever way you take this sort of delivery.

Teams & Riders Tadej Pogačar discussion thread

Kelly hasn't seen a racer with this variety of skills in awhile, either. Sean raced like a mercenary because he had to win to make money. Pogacar has a fatter contract and what he's winning in this GT is what he wants to win. There's still almost two weeks to go. It'll be interesting to...

Nothing? Ever? Thats some pretty confident forecasts considering Vingo '23 was fighting a clearly recovering Pogacar. Now Jonas will get his chance to re establish his claim to greatness. By the way; Lemond in '89 after fighting the Tour with limited team help put down a pretty amazing...

LAST YEAR. Pogacar was working with the form he recovered after breaking his wrist and Jonas was at peak. Tadej's crack on Loze showed his depth of form and what happens with nutritional/fluid shortages, too. Now Jonas has to rebuild and Tadej gets to race at a pace that suits him for his...

    Giro d'Italia Giro d’Italia 2024, Stage 7: Foligno – Perugia, 40.6k (ITT)

Moto like? Putting a minute into Ganna on 5km of climbing at the end isn't unexpected nor "unreal". He did that ratio of gain in 2km of climbing at the end of the stage he won in this Giro already. And G Thomas was trying very hard to stay in the picture.

I have no broadcast access. Have they said anything about the 22 yo Magnus Sheffield? They should.

    Giro d'Italia Giro d’Italia 2024, Stage 7: Foligno – Perugia, 40.6k (ITT)

And this is why TP didn't need to chase a downhill break into dangerous roads 4km from Stage 6 finish. Not much to gain and much to risk. Congrats, Dude!

Teams & Riders Tadej Pogačar discussion thread

Looking at the highlights at that point and until nearly 2km Movistar had 3 guys pretty much gumming up any group rotation. The road was narrow so it would've taken at least 3 guys faster and more dedicated than Plapp to make a dent in the gap and there weren't. Piccolo's attack had no...

Embarrassingly so. Especially on a cold, wet afternoon.

Not really, if it wasn't for safety/comfort. If organizers gave any contender a pair of shorts they couldn't ride comfortably then the rider should always have the option. If the clothing wasn't adequate for bad weather, they're allowed to cover with rain jackets so what's the big deal? Bad...

Wasn't he in/out of the ICU for a week?

Teams & Riders Jonas Vingegaard: The Wizard of Visma

They say he's riding outdoors, now. That's a pretty baseline start for recovery and we should wish him luck. As for the Tour; only when it's a confirmed start should anyone assume it's real. It'd be great if it happens.

Teams & Riders Tadej Pogačar discussion thread

Listening to his post-race comments it sounds like he dialed back because he could. It didn't sound like he was concerned about gaps other than arriving at the TT fresh. Just when we think that he can go off script, too.

As always; danger is around every corner. Don't want to jinx what could be affected by weather, etc.

Perfect TT or crit warmup when you don't have much time. You can admit to hating doing this. He looks way ahead of the other guys that crashed!

Day 2....don't get too frisky. Not sure he restrained himself near enough so my projected race strategy is already done.

The bones need months to heal because most people won't stop playing once the pain goes away.
