    Giro d'Italia Giro d‘Italia 2024, Stage 5, Genova-Lucca, 178 km

Pietrobon was simply on fumes. He was the weakest of the four. Sure, to then attack like that after sitting on for so long wasn't classy, but on the other hand he is obliged to try and win whenever the opportunity arrises. It's pro bike racing, not a club ride.

Teams & Riders Everybody needs a little bit of Roglstomp in their lives

That perhaps depends on how it pans out, as I suggested in my post
  3. Extinction

    Giro d'Italia Giro d‘Italia 2024, Stage 5, Genova-Lucca, 178 km

He burnt all his matches in a valient effort.

Teams & Riders Everybody needs a little bit of Roglstomp in their lives

I think he's above Thomas, really, but it depends on Vingegaard's state of affairs and Pogi's recovery from the Giro as to whether or not Roglic can be higher than they. Of the three, it seems Primoz has the most ideal trajectory in terms of preparation and pre-race build-up, which shall be more...

Teams & Riders Tadej Pogačar discussion thread

And the UCI clearly has no fashion sense, the real issue here! I mean, pink top and pink bottom is vomitevole! Leave Italy decide the appropriate color match, which, by the way, they did a fine job with here (a nice cangiantismo worthy of a Michelangelo sibyl). Those UCI officials know nothing...

Who is the best descender (modern time) ?

Pidcock: Alpe d'Huez Savoldelli: Are you kidding? Nibali up there with Savoldelli. Sagan a daredevil, but he wasn't descending down mountains for stage wins or GC placements.

Who is the best descender (modern time) ?

Nah, Savoldelli was a true downhill phenomenon. I'd like to see comparisons between him and Pidcock, the only one who might rival him. Nibali was also special downhill. I haven't seen enough of Mohoric to really get a deeper sense, although his descent from the Poggio speaks volumes.

Not to mention interfering with the sprinters' turf in a GT, which could decide next year's contract for some. You start to annoy colleagues that way.
  9. Extinction

    Giro d'Italia Giro d‘Italia 2024, Stage 4 Acqui Terme-Andora, 190 km

That's because this Giro has the least amount of climbing in recent memory, so more stages for the sprinters.

Teams & Riders Tadej Pogačar discussion thread

Nah, the punch is there, it's just he had to attack from the bottom of San Vito and the whole world knew it. A GT isn't like a classic, not enough distance on a stage like that to soften everybody enough. Whereas yesterday he had to hold off the chasing sprint for over 2 k on the flat, again...

Teams & Riders Tadej Pogačar discussion thread

Nonsense, he was on the limit, sorry. And I've probably raced just as long, if not longer unfortunately, because it shows I'm getting old. In Thomas's own words (which totally confirm my initial thought on the matter and confute yours): "Thymen [Arensman] set a great pace and then I saw Honoré...

And, yet, Thomas said Pogi was "kicking my head in".
  13. Extinction

    Tadej Pogacar and Mauro Giannetti

On the RAI coverage the way of putting it is: "He does another sport" ("Fa un altro sport"), meaning he's in a class of his own.

    Tadej Pogacar and Mauro Giannetti

Well, Armstrong was clearly a good responder.

Teams & Riders Tadej Pogačar discussion thread

I think Thomas was on the limit more than playing cagey. He had to sprint to bridge the gap in the critical moment.

Giro d'Italia Giro d'Italia 2024 Stage 2: San Francesco al Campo – Santuario di Oropa (Biella), 161.0 km

Not on the level of the 84 Giro to make sure Moser won and not Fignon. The organization showed no shame in interfering with the outcome of the race. Your haha! only demonstrates you don't know what you are talking about. Actually, it's quite rare in the modern era, or even before, for track...

Giro d'Italia Giro d'Italia 2024 Stage 2: San Francesco al Campo – Santuario di Oropa (Biella), 161.0 km

But only with scandalous help from the Giro organization, which eliminated the Stelvio stage and a helicopter.

For the record then, Pantani: 17:04, 23.17 Kph, VAM 1881 m/h.
