Rio 2016 Olympic Road Race and Time Trial courses

And now, a potion of our new bike path between Sao Conrado and Leblon falls into the sea. I could not believe my eyes when this story came on live down here. I live in Barra, and there's a separate section that was set to open between Barra and San Conrado, which would have made the entire...

Rio 2016 Olympic Road Race and Time Trial courses

Update to my earlier course description.... The Gru/Grota circuit has been completely repaved. Very good condition, save for the cobbled section. Grumari climb still wickedly steep and uneven. Will be a bear. The Gru/Grota circuit is also very twisty and turny. Was just out there Saturday...

Rio 2016 Olympic Road Race and Time Trial courses

I'm bumping this thread as it appears a duplicate Olympics thread has begun. Frankly, I didn't want to copy and paste, so bumping was easier. Perhaps the mods can merge the threads?

Testing positive for THC--or the GANJA

Shouldn't this be in the Masters Fatty Doper thread?!?! ;-)

    Dumoulin.

Re: just wanted to tip my cap to you - impressed by your respectful approach and thoughtful debate in this thread. In a Clinic full of histrionics and apoplectic debate, you've managed to keep a level head and advance some interesting points. Refershing change from the norm around here.

    Ben Foster doped....to play Lance.

I'm with you. I call BS.... Total marketing ploy for what will probably be a bomb of a film.

Road to Olympics: UCI World Tour Nations Ranking

Re: Which is why I specified 2-3 La Redoutes. My point was more the decisive nature of the climb and the point at which the circuits arrive. What will be truly fun is watching 10-15 GC'ers figure out how to play their rouleur cards over the final flat and windy 18k. That's why I agree with...

Road to Olympics: UCI World Tour Nations Ranking

Re: The Liege comparison is very appropriate. I was trying to think of how to describe the Canoas/VC loop in the context of classics and/or WC races, and the only comparison would be to stack 2 or 3 La Redoutes on top of each other. Not for variability or steepest pitches, but in terms of...

Road to Olympics: UCI World Tour Nations Ranking

Re: Hilarious video. That's the newly repaved Point de Grumari climb. Massively steep in parts, around 20% (don't believe the 13% max as stated in some publications) and gets progressively worse as the climb goes on. It's a good thing they repaved, because the road looked like it had been...

Road to Olympics: UCI World Tour Nations Ranking

Re: Re: Bardet came third. Not much of a field, to be honest, but generated a good deal of interest here. Nice to see.

Road to Olympics: UCI World Tour Nations Ranking

Re: Re: I live here in Rio and have a pretty extensive channel selection on my satellite and can find ZERO coverage. I live on the route so I'll catch it live. That stated, SporTV down here does have the Eneco Tour on.

Road to Olympics: UCI World Tour Nations Ranking

Re: Re: I live on the route (on Avenida Lucio Costa, in Barra da Tijuca). It's not affecting the climbs tomorrow. Checked out some of the course today - thankfully they have repaved some pretty horrendous sections of tarmac, including the Grota Funda climb and descent, as well as the road...

2015 Larry H. Miller Tour of Utah, August 3 to 9

This climb is basically 2-3 miles of 6-7% with a couple of San Francisco Fillmore Street climbs thrown in here and there to get it to 9.5% overall. Ouch!!
