http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/rio-2016-olympics-test-event-route-altered-due-to-anti-government-protests/

and the Italy team, lacking Aru and Nibali, is:

"Valerio Agnoli (Astana), Valerio Conti (Lampre-Merida), Iuri Filosi (Nippo-Vini Fantini) and Edoardo Zardini (Bardiani-CSF)"
Is there some place where I can see the route of the race?
Thanks

EDIT: I’ve found this pdf. Maybe it’s helpful

depends, does Wellens points in ENECO put him in the 5 best belgium riders? He didn't earn points yet so if it doesn't, his points don't add up anything. If he does, they'll lose the points from their current 5th best man.

Gilbert and GVA will bring points ofcourse

But if Wellens becomes the 5th best Belgian rider, he must bring more points than the previous one, meaning Belgium's overall points go up. You make it sound very negative.

ofcourse it will go up, but if f.ex their 5 best men has 72 points, and wellens wins 85, they only gain 13 points. Which is peanuts. If Wellens is already in the top 5, they would've gained 80+ points from just that.
So it actually can make a huge difference.

Wellens, GVA and Gilbert would probably get combined 200 points.
Currently the 5th best Belgian rider is Sep VM who has 52 points. So Belgium is poised to add 150 points to their overall team score.

Question is if France would not get 5th place, who will be dropped from their Olympic team? Pinot, Bardet, Barguil, Gallopin, Vuillermoz.

I live on the route (on Avenida Lucio Costa, in Barra da Tijuca). It's not affecting the climbs tomorrow. Checked out some of the course today - thankfully they have repaved some pretty horrendous sections of tarmac, including the Grota Funda climb and descent, as well as the road that connects Grota Funda to the Prainha and Grumari climbs.

Should be a great morning for the race. Weather has been spectacular all week.

Is there a full startlist somewhere? Couldnt find it on the organisers website so dont think there is :(

It sure doesn't seem like it. I suppose there won't be any TV coverage for one of the funnest races of the year either.

I live here in Rio and have a pretty extensive channel selection on my satellite and can find ZERO coverage. I live on the route so I'll catch it live. That stated, SporTV down here does have the Eneco Tour on.

There's a strong French team heading over. Bardet, Pinot, Vuillermoz, Barguil and Gallopin. Not sure if that means none of them are doing the Vuelta.

They were really dominating the race with all five riders in the decisive attack.

1 Vuillermoz

Looks like Pauwels second and two other french riders third and fourth.

Bardet came third. Not much of a field, to be honest, but generated a good deal of interest here. Nice to see.

Would you know how many kilometers are there after the descent? Olympic route is around 18 kms

1 Alexis VUILLERMOZ FRA 4:20:27
2 Serge PAUWELS BEL +22
3 Romain BARDET FRA +22
4 Tony GALLOPIN FRA +22
5 Yury TROFIMOV RUS +22
6 Thibaut PINOT FRA +24
7 Kleber DA SILVA RAMOS BRA +3:42
8 Warren BARGUIL FRA +4:24 3
9 Ben SWIFT GBR +6:56
10 Simon CLARKE AUS +6:56

According to Cassani it is a course perfect for the best stage racers like Froome, Nibali, Contador or Valverde. Other riders won't have much of a chance on this kind of course.

Who was that Brazilian who was going to teach all those filthy Europeans again?

What I get from the results is Swift and Clarke show puncheurs only have a chance if they are also good climbers ie Gallopin and Vuillermoz. And the fact Bardet and Pinot finished behind them might suggest the 18km between the final climb and the finish is too long, and it will be a predictable sprint finish with Valverde/Kwiatkowski/Albasini/etc.

No way. This is harder than 2013 Firenze.

Sure but 18km for Valverde to make up with he lost to Nibali/Quintana/Froome/Contador on the final climb? Very possible.

On his own? Possible but not likely. If the race is shattered, with small groups and lone riders all over the road, a rider could easily defend a 30s advantage.
