    Giro d'Italia Giro d'Italia 2025 stage 20: Verrès – Sestrière, 205 km

The way he was frequently chasing Carapaz by a bike length and the manner in which he sat back down in the saddle after standing for a bit indeed suggests there wasnt much more in the tank. But especially when you don't have much more to give it might be better to not play games and just ride...

I think Del Toro didn't have much extra to give on Finestre, but not fighting afterwards will haunt him for the rest of his life.

It's on himself too. At the top of the Finestre it was all to play for but for whatever reason he didn't choose to play. Whatever the team car says, at some point you have to listen to yourself.

His €6mln or €8mln salary is just that, salary. He'll probably earn 1.5x-2x that in total due to image rights, prize money etc. I think there's people we need to feel more sorry for.

    Liège-Bastogne-Liège 2023, one day monument, April 23 (men's)

The trend of LBL was to be a very closed race usually decided in a sprint or a very late solo (the Valverde years were quite boring), even three or four years ago the consensus was that Redoute would never be decisive again (of course, this was when there was still a little climb after Roche au...

Teams & Riders Official Wout Van Aert thread

I think it's fair to debate the current focus on 'woke' issues to an extent: he's actually is right that people who enjoyed Zwarte Piet did this without negative / racist annotations - it doesn't make it a great tradition but the debate often devolves into painting groups of people as racist...

    Dan Martin discussion thread

Racing last few years has been much better than previously which actually might be the result of breakthroughs at younger age, not only from Pogacar, so I don’t quite buy his argument.

I doubt he'll have to worry about the legroom in Economy class ;)

Please just stop responding to that guy... Long interview with Bernal on his crash, recovery and how he sees the way ahead. He's quite realistic, saying he doesn't know when he'll be fully recovered and whether he'll ever be on the same level again (at the same time it seems there is no...

What did Botero and others indicate? Bernal might've been looking backwards to that car, thereby missing the bus. Still, it's a pretty big thing to miss and is on the side of the road etc, which buses tend to do, so at the very least we can establish that the bus is not at fault. Very...

There were also reports of a broken knee cap, right? Surely there would be more visible effects from this (at the very least scars caused by surgery and/or bandages)? This photo is a very curious development. Edit: apparently he was in a wheelchair for most of this press event, a.o. evidenced...

I think the latter is the bigger priority than the former. Do we have good examples of cyclists successfully coming back from broken femur (that required immediate surgery, i.e. probably heavy trauma)? I'm worrying about Beloki / Froome level impact here... On some level happy that the bus...

The It's No Picnic PostNL Thread

The most tragic element of this episode is the statement Benoot makes on the team website: "I have good memories here at Team DSM, with some great opportunities and I have learned a lot. It’s fun to be part of this team, but it’s also demanding. That is not a negative towards the team; the...
