Giro d'Italia Giro d'Italia 2026 Route: Speculation, Rumours and Announcements

I refuse to believe that the Swiss stage will be using either of the Gotthardpass, Furkapass or Nufenenpass. Given the farce of the Swiss stages in 2023 and 2024, I can't see them risking using such high passes in Switzerland. Also, I can't see them having a Cima Coppi outside Italy. I'll...

Giro d'Italia Giro d'Italia 2026 Route: Speculation, Rumours and Announcements

The proposed 2001 stage was nice, with the Colle Fauniera and a finish at Saint Anna di Vinadio.

Giro d'Italia Giro d'Italia 2026 Route: Speculation, Rumours and Announcements

RCS are too scared to descend off the Muro di Sormano, these no chance they'll use Sampeyre and Fauniera anytime soon.

Giro d'Italia Giro d'Italia 2026 Route: Speculation, Rumours and Announcements

As much I like the look of the Swiss stage, I'm really not sure if having high passes in Switzerland is a great idea after the fiasco of the Col du Grand-Saint-Bernard in 2023 and Passo Forcola di Livigno in 2024. Also, I refuse the believe that the Cima Coppi would be outside Italy.

Giro d'Italia Giro d'Italia 2026 Route: Speculation, Rumours and Announcements

It's an awesome descent, I did it last year and was very good fun.

Giro d'Italia Giro d'Italia 2026 Route: Speculation, Rumours and Announcements

I was speaking in terms of being the final or penultimate climb of the stage, in 2002 and 2006 it was a bit earlier, like the original proposed queen stage in 2021.

Giro d'Italia Giro d'Italia 2026 Route: Speculation, Rumours and Announcements

When was the last time it was a focal point (Not including 2022 MTF), 2011? We haven't had Fedia-Pordoi since 2001 which is crazy considering how much of a classic it used to be in the 90's.

Giro d'Italia Giro d'Italia 2026 Route: Speculation, Rumours and Announcements

Was thinking something like this, or even Giau from Cortina-Marmolarda-Pordoi-Pezze, from Feltre, which is the rumoured start, that'll be over 200k.

Giro d'Italia Giro d'Italia 2026 Route: Speculation, Rumours and Announcements

It's a very good MTF, but as a final mountain stage it's very underwhelming, as it doesn't link up with any climbs and it'll be more likely that everyone will wait for the final climb, rather than attack from far.

Giro d'Italia Giro d'Italia 2026 Route: Speculation, Rumours and Announcements

So after the success of the Finestre this year, Vegni thinks it's a good idea to have Piancavello as the final mountain stage next year lol. I actually think Piancavello is a very good MTF, but as the last mountain stage, come on...

Tour de France Tour de France 2026 route rumours

I can't remember being this close to the presentation and still not knowing the full route, credit where credits due to ASO for keeping this secret. Even Thomas Vergouwen hasn't been able to predict the whole route on Velowire yet. Although I've also never seen such a lack of interest in a TDF...

Tour de France Tour de France 2026 route rumours

Alpe d'huez via the Col de Seranne is very overatted IMO.

Tour de France Tour de France 2026 route rumours

Although I feel it's good to have atleast one mountain stage over 200k, like the Giro tends to do. I actually don't have an issue with short mountain stages, as long as they are well designed, I think a sub 150k mountain stages can be good entertainment.

Tour de France Tour de France 2026 route rumours

I totally agree, but atleast give him an opportunity get a tiny headstart. This years TDF was almost designed for Pogacar with all the punchy stages

Tour de France Tour de France 2026 route rumours

Putting a 2014 Bergerac - Perigueux style ITT would be really good for the race IMO, atleast give remco a chance.
