    Cycling Hotbed

Cyclists often come from small cycling-crazed communities, so it might not be as remarkable as it seems. There are probably plenty of riders from small towns in the Basque Country (Euskaltel), Vendee (bBox), Tuscany and Belgium. I've only looked at the current squad of Euskaltel: Egoi...

What Riders do the Pro Tour teams need/ not need?

I never said that it's a bad thing to be a helper, some of them are my favorite riders. But saying Gesink was a domestique this Tour who will have to step it up to become a team leader is slightly bizarre. The way he was riding on the Tourmalet is how he will always ride, it has little to do...

What Riders do the Pro Tour teams need/ not need?

In what way was I describing Gesink? This Tour he was already a team leader without domestique duties, next year he'll be the main contender for the white jersey. High level climbing domestiques are riders like Szmyd, Kiriyenka and Piepoli.

What Riders do the Pro Tour teams need/ not need?

Rabobank - High level climbing domestique. A rider that can help during the Tour and is able to win stages/finish top 3 in GC in other races. Cervelo - anyone who can ride a decent GC

    Question for non-Anglophones

Your opinion of the "prikpagina" is obviously not very high, but you're not exactly unbiased. You've been trolling that forum for years using dozens of different names (mostly variations to Arend Appelberg) that all have gotten banned. Most people will agree it's mainly an asskissing forum for...

    Ryder Hesjedal new contract 2011

It seems you've mixed-up the link to the article. It directs towards a rather catchy pop song, that doesn't appear to have a connection to cycling at all. This article is probably the correct one, but there's no mention of ice hockey.

TDF Stage 17 - Thursday, July 22 2010, Pau - Col du Tourmalet, 174 km

I didn't say Sanchez would perform better or worse just because he's used to the weather. I was reacting to the assumption that VDB would know what rain was and Sanchez wouldn't.

TDF Stage 17 - Thursday, July 22 2010, Pau - Col du Tourmalet, 174 km

I think the Basque Country actually has more annual rainfall than Belgium, so Sanchez should be used to the weather too.

Transfers "Rumours & Reality" and Young Guns

My bad, I just assumed he could speak at least a little English. But it's probably not a deciding factor in the choice between Rabobank and Radioshack. Both teams have several riders and team managers that speak Spanish.

Transfers "Rumours & Reality" and Young Guns

Why would he need another language? Primary language at Rabobank is English, he already speaks English. Next to that: Freire, Menchov, Breukink, E. Dekker, Garate and Ardila all speak Spanish. Gesink and Mollema are both looking for houses in Spain and have started learning Spanish.

Team Sky; Not invited to 2011?

You have some points I agree with, but certainly not this one. Even if you tried you couldn't be more wrong. I know the CQ ranking is not an official ranking, but it does prove that Vacansoleil is not only about suicide attacks.

Team Sky; Not invited to 2011?

They represent a big and fast growing market. ASO is a commercial organisation. Even if al of them climbed like Kenny van Hummel, they'd still get an invite.
