Suspected Broken Clavicle - any reason to do anything?

After reading quite a bit, I'm now convinced that it's a separation (I've got quite a "bump" near the joint where my clavicle is sticking up). Though the pain is pretty well abated, I will get in to see my ortho in about a week. Thanks to everyone for the comments. Dave

Suspected Broken Clavicle - any reason to do anything?

I landed first on my forearm and then hard on my shoulder and hip (finally rolling onto my back and getting road rash across both shoulder blades). I looked in the mirror last night, and my injured shoulder is sitting a lot higher than the non-injured side. Interestingly, the injured shoulder...

Suspected Broken Clavicle - any reason to do anything?

I know that self-diagnosis is fraught with peril. That being said, I think that there is a pretty good chance that I broke my clavicle when I clipped a pedal in a race and went down hard on my shoulder (almost ten days ago now). Anyway, is there any reason to do anything about this? Poking...

    Should You Wear Team Kits?

I tend to wear defunct team clothing on many rides (I love a Systeme' U jersey that I recently got - a bit of an homage to "The Professor" Fignon). I agree about the Alessio jersey, and have been considering picking up one of those (that and Fignon's Chateau d'Ax - Gatorade jersey). Dave

    Hernia Surgery

I'm glad that you are agiin able to get on the bike. I know that it's not much, but it's a start. As for me, I did discuss this with my doctor. He said that I there's no real harm in letting it go. Of course the danger is that intestine will get strangulated. He said that if this were to...

    Hernia Surgery

I'm sorry to hear this. I've got a double Inguinal hernia, but I'm doing all that I can to put off surgery. Maybe I'll do something about it in the fall (when racing is pretty well done). Still your experience is serving to convince me that there is no real upside to having the surgery...

    Classic Racing Pics

I miss the cricket. I like the gold and rainbow stripe accents to his shoes, helmet, and kit (not quite as outrageous as Cipo, but certainly makes a statement). It's also nice to see him beating McEwen. Thanks for posting the photo. Dave

Ever been hit by a car?

Not yet been hit, but had my worst crash ever (cracking some vertibrae in my neck) avoiding a head-on collision with an on-coming car. Lesson learned: If you're ever descending a hill into a left-hand blind corner, don't cut the corner thinking "there are never any cars on this road." I...

International arrest warrant issued against Landis

Under questioning, it will soon be apparent that Floyd had nothing to do with it... The boy doesn't strike me as being the sharpest knife in the drawer. I think that Floyd could probably figure out how to turn on a computer, but hack one? You're joking, right? (Of course, Floyd probably...

What's up with the dude in front of the bike? Every time I look at this photo, I can't stop thinking that the guy looks like he's grabbed the bike by its hips and is about to give it "what fer." If he were wearing that horrid flesh colored kit, I would have lost my lunch.

Agree. I don't understnad the proliferation of black kits in the peloton. The teams aren't making their riders any more comfortable with this attraction to black.

    Astana transfusion equipment "Criminal"

Wasn't Puerto as well? Despite all the initial enthusiasm and sensational claims, when all was said and done there, not much was accomplished. Call me a cynic, but I'll just wait and see on this one.

How many miles did you get on your best tires this summer?

The Krylion delivers great bang for the buck. Very durable, very puncture resistant, and good performance. Once I discovered this tire, I haven't strayed. Dave

As a Bianchi devotee, I may need to look into getting one of those jerseys... (You can also take a look at this jersey at the "Store" page of the Bianchi website.) Dave

Yeah, just like Puerto... Sadly, I'll guess that when all is said and done, nothing will have played out, except months or years of public recriminations and bluster. That just seems to be the way that these things go. :(
