6 wins in 8 race days (ok, he doubled up with the valencia GC). These "easy" wins are great for his confidence, I think. And RB definitely has a stronger team than QS around him.
Yep, he's lighter than Nys and Vdp, too so he's great on steep stuff. Nys makes way too many mistakes. Del Grosso looked like he was done but nys let him back in.
Skimo isn't that risky. Didn't Bora sign a top guy from the sport recently? I think it's something a cyclist could do in the off-season. It's also gnarly as hell.
Mvdp said afterwards that he didn't have good legs until the end. Nys didn't know that, but in hindsight he should have forced Mathieu to make the first moves. Still the goat, though.
Del Grosso and Vandeputte looked really good today; Del Grosso had an unfortunate late endo in the sand. He's not quite the best technically but he's got that road power. MvdP can win CX races until he's Eddie Merckx's age, as far as I can tell.
Agreed and this is the superteam conundrum. If salaries and resources were better distributed across the peloton Vine would be riding for GC somewhere. There's no incentive for him to do that now.
I imagine something will happen and the Vuelta lineup is in flux. I'd have Yates as nominal Vuelta leader, tbh but I guess you have to give Matteo a shot at GC at some point...
He may have prematurely burned his bridges with the team formerly known as IPT, who knows what it might look like next season? There are a bunch of good riders still there l. Not guaranteed that Adams will still be the principal.
