Wonder if any sprinters go for essentially stage 5. Rest are for climbers really. Don't mind the TTT given they'll be doing another a couple of weeks later.

Interesting. Gouvenou has no ITT

Instead, a TTT on stage 3

"double" grand colombier on stage 7

This is tailor made for Vingo. And is sad that the ITT is further devalued
He's doing Giro - Tour this year. Surely he's not riding this as well?

Jorgenson is doing Suisse
He wants to start mind games with Pogacar before the Tour, or he definitely likes being chased  .

Kuss, apart from the Vuelta, has no podium finishes in stage races. I think his best result is ninth in Catalunya.

Remco, Lipowitz, Ayuso and Del Toro.

Yes stage 7 looks crazy difficult. A perfect rehearsal for the Tour. Even with the stage 3 TTT and whatever gaps that might create stage 7 will be very interesting.

In fact since the TTT is only 28km, gaps might be small enough to encourage attacks by the climbers. I have no idea which teams might be favored in the TTT.

Bit of a sh*tty route if I'm being honest. The mountain stages are all a bit meh, I dislike TTTs in one week races even more than in GTs and if Pogacar is there he might as well end the race on stage 1.

For the other stages I didn't address

Stage 1: https://www.tour-auvergne-rhone-alpes.fr/en/stage-1

A hard opening stage. 5.6km 8.7% cat 1 just 17km from the finish. Had Pog been here, I'd expect a Pog romp. May be a touch too steep for Remco to launch

Stage 2: https://www.tour-auvergne-rhone-alpes.fr/en/stage-2

A 237km romp. A couple of lumps in the finale, which could allow for an escape if Remco is feeling a bit frisky. More likely, a reduced sprint is in the cards

Stage 4: https://www.tour-auvergne-rhone-alpes.fr/en/stage-4

What is the point, Gouvenou? If you want a sprint stage, give us a sprint stage.

Stage 5: https://www.tour-auvergne-rhone-alpes.fr/en/stage-5

Sprint

Stage 6: https://www.tour-auvergne-rhone-alpes.fr/en/stage-6

Back to back climbs to the finish. However, they are not very steep. Could be a chance for Del Toro to stretch his legs, but Remco should be able to follow

Stage 7: Profile already linked
Short and hard throughout. Steep side of the Grand Colombier for the finish at > 10% gradient. Separates the men from the boys

Stage 8: https://www.tour-auvergne-rhone-alpes.fr/en/stage-8

Short, hard, and explosive. Very hard MTF to end the Dauphine.

May be a touch too much steep climbing for Remco, but given Vingo and Pog are out, not sure who will be able to dethrone him. Maybe Lipo (if Red Bull actually allows it)
