The forum exists to discuss cycling - not politics or sportswashing. Just don't. Not sure why folks find it difficult to compartmentalize the issues.

    Is UAE Over the Top?

Professional cyclists in Europe don’t get paid too badly compared with regular careers people require university degrees to fill. Not really fair to compare with soccer, American sports or F1. For example, in 2007 60 Minutes Australia ran a segment on Stuart O’Grady. That was an eye opener as...

    GC Power Ranking

Was thinking 2022 Giro winning Hindley was back in the Vuelta but that was benchmarking against what might have been a below par (sick) Vingo. The jury is still out on him perhaps? But yes I overlooked Remco as I lazily used Netserk’s list with some minor edits - my apologies! Realistically I...

    GC Power Ranking

Don't know why we make top 20 lists - takes too long. Here is my top 10. Pogacar Vingegaard Roglic Almeida Lipowitz Carapaz S.Yates Hindley Landa Del Toro

    Vuelta a España Vuelta 2025, stage 21: Alalpardo - Madrid (108 km)

Congrats to Jonas Vingegaard and Team Visma. Yes they were hot favorites but there are no "gimmies" in cycling. You still have execute and João Almeida gave Visma something to think about. Too bad for him UAE were so poor. So well deserved but sadly his win will be overlooked due to matters...

    Tom 'Pidders' Pidcock

That bodes well for Pidcock's future grand tour ambitions. Kudos from me, he rode a very tenacious Vuelta and beating Hindley who looked in the best form since winning the Giro is quite impressive. I didn't think he had that in him.

Teams & Riders The Remco Evenepoel is the next Eddy Merckx thread

Probably. But worth noting who Remco beat that year who rode this Vuelta: Ayuso + 4' 57" Almeida + 7' 24" Hindley + 12' 01"

I only just saw this but I also appreciate that. Its been challenging to put it mildly. The Tour was daunting but this Vuelta even tougher. I also appreciate what @Red Rick has added as a former mod. Hats off to @Armchair Cyclist who wore the brunt as the "fun" usually occurred live while I...

Teams & Riders Giulio Pellizzari: Super Sub

Redacted. Perhaps you are right but Pellizzari seemed not on a good day to be of any use to Hindley. As said above he might have been sick.

Teams & Riders Tadej Pogačar discussion thread

Not sure how you can make that claim? Pogacar has already won 5 Grand Tours including 4 TdF's, defeating Jonas directly in the last two. And then add one day races, monuments and world champs. There is no comparison in their palmares because Pogacar is a far more versatile rider - even came...

    Jonas Vingegaard: Something is Rotten

Definitely looked human today. Looking over his shoulder in the final after jumping away in the last kilometer. But I also read he was sick so that is actually very impressive.

Teams & Riders Jonas Vingegaard thread: Love in Iberia

Kudos - he wasn't flashy but got the job done as the overwhelming pre Vuelta favorite. In the age of Pogacar its easy to forget that winning a grand tour with the previous grand your in the legs isn't a fait accompli. Edit: If he was sick then that is actually very impressive.

Vuelta a España Vuelta 2025, stage 20: Robledo de Chavela - Bola del Mundo - Puerto de Navacerrada (164.8 km)

What a monster climb in the last 3km that was - over 2,000 metres, 10-20% gradients and even unpaved. Hate to be a sprinter - grupetto came in at 36 minutes! Congrats to Jonas Vingegaard. Obviously he won the Vuelta today. Not flashy but got the job done. Watched the final 3km, he looked like...

Vuelta a España Vuelta 2025, stage 20: Robledo de Chavela - Bola del Mundo - Puerto de Navacerrada (164.8 km)

Have to pick Vingegaard today to win the stage and the Vuelta today. Almeida has been strong despite his under performing team but the final 3 kilometers of this mountain is something else. Hindley to prevail over Pidcock but I am far from confident as Tom is simply riding out of his skin.
