Teams & Riders The Remco Evenepoel is the next Eddy Merckx thread

Lol, I have to say I didn't expect to see a discussion about taking corners and accelerating after taking corners when the race consisted mostly of long straights and barely any corners to speak of.

Teams & Riders The Remco Evenepoel is the next Eddy Merckx thread

He's definitely at a level that would suffice to win the TDF most of the time. There is still a big gap between him and Pogacar/Vingegaard though. Time will tell whether that gap can be bridged... Looking at Pogacar's dominance this year, it seems almost impossible. Who knows, it's no guarantee...

Tour de France Tour de France 2024, Stage 13: Agen > Pau, 165.3 km

I don't get it either. Let Visma do the work.

Tour de France Tour de France 2024, Stage 13: Agen > Pau, 165.3 km

No offense but it didn't look like he was going to get close to winning the Tour.

I mean sure, they have Cavendish and Groenewegen.

Teams & Riders Everybody needs a little bit of Roglstomp in their lives

I'm not talking about Roglic specifically, he's always going to find a way to crash. I'm talking about GC guys being in the mix during sprint preparations. Where's the added value in that? There is no point.

I agree, I don't see the added benefit of having GC guys fighting for position during sprint preparation. Seems like a pretty easy fix to change it to 10 km.

Tour de France Tour de France 2024, Stage 13: Agen > Pau, 165.3 km

I don't know why Lotto should work at this point tbh, De Lie doesn't seem to know how to position himself for a sprint and they don't have a lead out for him. It's almost impressive how he keeps finding ways to get boxed in.

Tour de France Tour de France 2024, Stage 12: Aurillac > Villenueve-sur-Lot, 203.6km

Definitely looks like there is something going around in the Bahrain team... Not looking good. Probably best to take Bilbao out of the race.

    Tour De France 2024 Stage 8: Semur-en-Auxois – Colombey-les-Deux-Églises, 183.4k

If Lotto don't control this stage for De Lie, I don't understand cycling anymore. This should be one of his best chances for a stage win. Also Wout and Pedersen but hard to tell how they are feeling. Wout was really good the first stage but seems to have faded. Hopefully he will improve...

Itzulia Basque Country 2024, April 1-6

Let's see who can follow Vingegaard today. Has anyone been able to do that yet this year?

De Ronde van Vlaanderen (270.8 km), 2024 March 31 (Sunday)

I wouldn't say there was nothing special about it but disqualification is over the top. He did take Pollit for a walk there, not that I think he would have beaten Matthews but still. Not anywhere close to sprinting in a straight line

Teams & Riders The "MVP" Mathieu Van der Poel Road Discussion Thread

Top 5 definitely should be doable in LBL but actually being able to hang with Pogacar and Evenepoel on those hills... If he pulls that off that might be the most impressive win of his career.

De Ronde van Vlaanderen (270.8 km), 2024 March 31 (Sunday)

It's not like he only slightly deviated from his line though. If you do a sprint like that then you shouldn't be surprised to be disqualified imo.

Milano - Sanremo 2024, one day monument, March 16

MVDP said in the post race interview that he had to dig very deep for Pogacar's second attack and wasn't able to take turns on the decent. So not really holding back but rather being on the limit. Pogacar could have won if it wasn't for MVDP I think. No one else bothered to respond. Same for...
