Surely UAE will ride for Almeida but that might not be enough. They will need to ride Navacerrada’s first pass hard to test Jonas and get Almeida over the top first - there’s 6” there which together with the finish line bonis might be a game changer either way.

Whilst I generally agreed with you in thinking that GC is nearly bagged for Vingegaard, there's more than a 5% chance for Almeida to get it. If he has good legs he can take 10 seconds or a bit more on Vingegaard - especially if he's slightly ill. Almeida could be looking at needing 20-30 seconds...

And it was a Giro breakaway stage in 2020 maybe... He's a greater TTer (even if not the best in the world...) but Ganna's project as a GC and classics man is totally overated.
