The link I can see with CX is that they're used to doing hour-long efforts, but of course that's not all it takes to time trial with the best. I don't know if long time trials will suit MVDP's more explosive style.

Well, Van der Poel was born and raised in Belgium. He may be Dutch, but coming from Belgium is arguably true, probably also entourage-wise.

Froome would have won that Vuelta easily if he was the team leader. Cobo never would have gotten the red jersey.

I don't really get what Bennett is saying. Cobo's results in 2012 may have been bad for a Vuelta winner, but finishing 30th in the Tour and a decent start to the Vuelta is not too shabby for a fat mechanic.
