French is accusing British cyclist Cheating

I think comparing Hindes to the badminton lot is stretching it. The badminton players were booted out for deliberately trying to LOSE after several warnings from the match offical and then an investigation from whatever body. Hindes stretched the rules in order to try and WIN. I can accept...

French is accusing British cyclist Cheating

It's all moot anyway - even if the race umpire had decided that the British double's equipment failure was somehow not within the envelope of that required for a restart the only sanction would have been a yellow card. ie. The race would have been restarted as it was anyway, with all six crews.

I have always found it interesting to compare Bolt and Asafa Powell. Powell has run more sub-10 times than anyone else, yet never seems to produce when it matters. You watch him and he takes himself deadly seriously. In something like the 100m where you need to be loose to be quick he seems...

Really? The irony? I can totally understand asking questions of British Cycling/Sky and being suspicious but to then turn this onto an athlete from another sport who has no connection to cycling who is upset at the fact her event was won by a known and guilty doper... from a country where it...

Bolt winning the Junior Worlds 200m at the age of 15 and before he was 18 becoming the first junior to run sub 20s doesn't count as showing talent early?

Why I'll Never Cheer for a British Team

With regards to this incident, whether or not the integrity of the British double can be questioned, a disqualification would not have been the result of an upheld appeal. If the race umpire decided that there was nothing wrong with the British double's seat then a yellow card would have been...

I have seen enough strong looking ladies who have never gone near a sport to realise that looking masculine does not automatically mean doping.

They all sail the exact same boats - the name of the class is the make/class of boat. I don't know why they don't provide all track cyclists with the same bikes. Ainslie is sailing the same boat he used in Athens I believe. Steroids could indeed give an advantage. Ainslie gained almost three...

    GB Track Team

Having seen him say these comments live on the TV and the manner in which he said them and his team mates' reactions I thought at the time he was being ironic, making a joke. Even German/British teenagers have a sense of humour... or try to. Perhaps they're inappropriate, yes. But looking at the...

Good point re: professional rowing at the turn of the 19th Century. Yes, it was a huge professional enterprise with watermen racing up and down the country for huge cash prizes and much gambling. I'm sure many untoward things happened in JOLLY OLD BRITAIN. I really am not naive in that regard. I...

I believe Foster had a 5:52 pb. Other scores I know (roughly) of: Tom James, before winning in Beijing, 5:56. Reed and Hodge are around about 5:44, maybe a bit better. Eric Murray and Mahe Drysdale, the Kiwis, are right around the 5:40-5:43 area. Hamish Bond a bit slower. Pinsent and Cracknell...

Some of my thoughts on why Redgrave didn't dope and why doping isn't a problem in rowing. Of course, I can't say that doping doesn't occur in the sport, as it has, but I don't think it is endemic and I don't think that to win you have to dope. Redgrave was probably only the 'best in the...
