Re:
I see it that way too. Let's be clear. If Froome (and Dumoulin) had not had Giro legs, Geraint would not have seen either of them for dust, especially Froome. It takes nothing away from Thomas' victory, as it is a choice whether one tries to do the Giro and Tour. GT had a comparatively...
I never quite understand this business about climbing domestiques for Sky disadvantaging the others, as these others just wheel suck onto them as well. If there is no such wheel sucking advantage to be gained, then there is nothing stopping someone breaking away. Quintana did it in the...
Well that would be a repeat of this year then (Sky sans Thomas)? I would like to see the end of sprint stages, or at least the end of ones where the breakaway is only there for the TV exposure to the OAPs watching all day, like me. Just keep making the initial 100 kms very hilly and then...
What is clear is that not only is Froome the best all-rounder, but is also very intelligent. That last gives him the nouse to get out of scrapes that he lands in and is essential to a GT competitor. He's not there yet though, which is a compliment to Prudhomme and his staff.
My only...
I've just watched the ITV4 summary programme and the commentary of Boulting and Millar on the final climb was simply brilliant, compared with the the Eurosport one. Boulting had remembered who had gone ahead from the break and so could name them as they were passed by the pursuers.
The ES...
I think we should hold a competition on how many times Sean Kelly says 'yes, weel, we ken seee heeer tat' and then repeats what Kirby has just said. 14 stages so far, I reckon 1500 odd.
In fairness, I don't understand why they are told by the producer to talk - incessantly. I just like the...
Thanks for those comments from the OP. I do hope they stick with Ned and David (can't think of a toff like Millar as 'Dave'). It has been a first class perormance from both.
Having given an opinion on the Eurosport commentary on another thread, I couldn't see any thread abput the ITV4 commentary, so I just want to say how informative these two blokes are and how they are a definite improvement on the previous two (you know who, much as I was very fond of them)...
I much prefer ITV4 and Millar and Boulton stick to the task.
It's not his fault, but I find it very tedious to listen to Sean Kelly, unpleasant even (the Irish dialect, I know, it's a subjective view). He also seems to just repeat whatever Kirby invites him to say.
That's a very rounded post if i may so comment. Sums it up, Wiggins is good enough a climber when trained for it, that he can keep pace with the climbers. Contador has had the ability to get 20 seconds on most rivals on the big climbs, when it matters, but in fact it was elsewhere on the TTs...
It's pretty clear that Sky was a one-tactic entry this year with an intended winner being given strong support so that he would be able to be devastating where it mattered. With Porte's loss of form /health (must be the latter) it was clear that the others had no ability to step up for stage...
