UCI helped Froome with illegal(?) TUE at Romandie

The article purports that the only rule that was broken (WADA's or otherwise) was the rule requiring TUEs be kept strictly confidential. Cookson probably won't do anything about it for fear of being branded Pat McQuaid 2.0. And if Froome calls for his rights to be respected he will be branded...

UCI helped Froome with illegal(?) TUE at Romandie

https://medium.com/@MichaelCarcaise/tue-confidentiality-in-pro-cycling-909dc2972c37 "If this violation goes unpunished we will see a dangerous “new normal” emerge in which pro cyclists are pressured to publicly disclose their TUEs or, when they refuse to do so, face damage to their reputation...

Wake up people, keep your focus on the UCI

Wrong. I have followed the sport for a very long time. And I am not saying Pat and Hein shouldn't be put up against the wall. I am saying you can't stop there. And everybody at the Clinic and in the mainstream media does seems to stop there.

Wake up people, keep your focus on the UCI

This is the whole point. If the system can be corrupted by one or two bad apples then the problem is not solved when you replace them with seemingly trustworthy people. The whole institution needs to be reformed to with a system of check and balances to ensure that rules will be enforced...

Wake up people, keep your focus on the UCI

Dave, McQuaid and Verbruggen should not alone be demonized. They are (usually) rational actors (not so much McQuaid lately) that had a job to do, manage and grow the sport. If an institution like the UCI can be driven so far off course by one or two people, then the institution itself must be...

Wake up people, keep your focus on the UCI

If you people put half as much energy into asking questions about the UCI's mgmt committee, executive board, and anti-doping commission, as you do about LA's one nut then you might actually see some change. The problems are STRUCTURAL. If you don't fix the structure, in 3 years time you will...

Top (non-LA) Q's in minds of Clinic regulars

So it certainly seems. Which begs a whole other set of questions about how to reform the UCI. Not just replacing the people, but reforming the structure so doping cover-ups are not possible.

Top (non-LA) Q's in minds of Clinic regulars

To whom would you ask this question? Anti-doping authorities? The UCI? And do we really want the answer? That is, would it be wise for the ADAs to reveal the strength of their tests to the public and the athletes?

Top (non-LA) Q's in minds of Clinic regulars

Folks, its great that this community exists. I am not a regular visitor and I wonder if anyone cares to respond to a request. A lot of great information is shared here, and very serious questions are raised (and sometimes answered). However, it is sometimes difficult to find these gold...
