Returning to Training After Heart Attack - Stent Fitment

Brilliant story, OBG - I am doing the we're not worthy gesture in front of the computer!! Also nice (as an NHS employee of some 28 years) to hear a tale of what the NHS does best!

    Bit of help part 2

Excellent! Thanks for that. At least I now know that hitting 160+ is unlikely to kill me, even if it feels like it will.

    The Triplets of Belleville

My daughter and I just sat and watched that (husband retired, sloshed). Cracking little film, very quirky. The daughter is raving about it. Can't believe that there was a thread on here about it. BTW its marketed here in the UK as Belleville Rendezvous.

    Bit of help part 2

Thanks but I have the weight loss side of things sorted. I just remember being told something at a gym before about an optimum heart rate aim for that involved your resting heart rate and age, I think. I want to make sure that I'm not overdoing it - I'm getting on a bit.

    The Cat Thread

I had an uncomfortable moment this week - sharing a pack of discounted prawns with the cat. 20 minutes later they reappeared under the dining room table. I spent the next couple of hours wondering whether I was about to embark on a major food-poisoning sesh.

    Cuisine Corner

Actually I could murder this just now after 6 weeks of dieting: Possibly with these as a starter: with plenty of vinegar, obviously. My husband swears that you have to be weaned on this stuff to enjoy it (he wasn't). Anyone else been able to eat jellied eels without gagging?

    Bit of help part 2

OK, been following all the recommendations, downloaded shedloads of spinning music and am doing lots of interval stuff with resistance, spinning and sprints. I am now about 7lbs lighter, and 2 inches has vanished from my waist to reappear on my previously puny thighs. So quite chuffed...

    The Cat Thread

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tortoiseshell_cat Complicated stuff, all those alleles. I've a female tortoiseshell/tabby who looks like someone took a bag of leftover cat colours, threw them in a bag and gave them a good shake. Apparently you can get male tortoishells, but they can be infertile...

    Cycling and contact lenses

I'm -7, and I know that my eyes would just dry out if I wore lenses. I have seen prescription cycling glasses in the cycling mags. I imagine they'd be quite useful. I did enquire about getting some funky ones, but with my prescription I was told the lenses would be too thick.

Call for Helmet usage in the Netherlands

My Netherlands trip was arranged by a Dutch mate who assured me that would happen if I wore a helmet. No-one batted an eyelid at people in lycra on road bikes wearing helmets, but I never saw anyone else wearing one, even the baby about 9 months old sitting in a crate on the front of his mum's...

    Bit of help needed

OK then, I'll do that - I enjoy being on the bikes anyway and I can run through last summer's 2-wheeled pub crawls in my head while I'm at it. I'll keep the machines for the bingo wings :D

Call for Helmet usage in the Netherlands

Are the death rates very high from head injuries in the Netherlands? I rode from Colchester to Amsterdam last year, and the only place where I felt I needed a helmet was the UK. I the Netherlands we hardly ever met traffic, and when we did we were given priority (took me several hours to work...
