Vuelta stage 20. Corvera → Alto de El Angliru - 119km

Contador to attack on Cobertoria and go mad down the wet descent. Sky will take it easy on the descent and shed a minute to Contador, though Froome will still hit the ground. Contador will join his team mates in the break who will deliver him to the bottom of the Angliru with two minutes over...

Will Contador Be Juiced Up Again Upon His Return

Anyone else think Contador has seriously upped his program since the second rest day? He's absolutely flying. To be honest I hope he has, and I hope he's changed his blood too. Would love it if he pulled off something spectacular tomorrow. :D

    Contador vs. Froome

I think that one thing must always be kept in mind during the Contador vs Froome discussion, and that is Andy Schleck. If Schleck hadn't had that crash in the 2012 Dauphine then cycling would probably look totally different now. I'm not saying that Andy would have even won a tour, but the impact...

    Tour de France 2017 Stage 17: La Mure > Serre-Chevalier 183k

    Contador nearly 3 minutes ahead

Tour de France 2017 Stage 16: Le Puy to Romans-sur-Isère

Froome to puncture when echelons start forming and eventually lose three minutes. Contador to gain time on every gc contender other than Martin and begin his attack on yellow.

Teams & Riders Alberto Contador Discussion Thread

I think (and hope) that people are being overly pessimistic. We have no idea yet what Alberto's form is: He tip-toed around the TT, and lost time on the last kick of Belle Filles (remember that until that last kick he had actually completed the rest of the climb quicker than anybody else), but...

If it's raining on the uphill I can see Contador going over the top alone, or maybe with Aru. Froome is never as good in the rain and Contador is usually way better. Froome would probably catch and drop him on the descent though.

Teams & Riders Alberto Contador Discussion Thread

I expected Contador to lose 10-20 seconds to Froome and Porte today so not worried at all. 2015 Contador would probably have finished 20-30 seconds back here. There's a strong chance of rain on the Mont du Chat, and we all know how much Contador improves in the rain, even when he's in poor...

Teams & Riders Alberto Contador Discussion Thread

Re: Re: Yeh you're right, it would probably would make more sense to ensure his team mates privately. But you've also got to look at it purely from an ego perspective, it would probably kill Contador inside going into tour and not being regarded by the press and public as a favourite he...

Teams & Riders Alberto Contador Discussion Thread

Re: He needs to keep his teammates confidence in him, if he writes himself off to the press then his teammates will no longer see him as a legitimate tour contender (especially after his performance in the Dauphine). If they don't see him as a legitimate tour contender then he's less likely to...

    Critérium du Dauphiné 2017 (04/06 > 11/06/2017)

Contador looking better and better as the climb goes on, Martin looks to be suffering now

    Critérium du Dauphiné 2017 (04/06 > 11/06/2017)

Re: He jumped away from Froome and Porte while everyone else was already upfront, Froome was still forcing Porte to chase at this point so that's why he was ahead of Froome for a short while.

    Critérium du Dauphiné 2017 (04/06 > 11/06/2017)

Contador the favourite for the stage now? Froome will drive it all the way up the climb, all he has to do is sit on. Valverde and Aru should get caught.

Re: Re: Yes It was, that was done likely to distance Lance further though. I think if Frank had been there then the Schlecks would have mixed it up early on Avoriaz and Contador would likely have lost the tour there.

Teams & Riders Alberto Contador Discussion Thread

Re: Re: Agreed, I think that the form Contador was showing on the last mountain stage of the Dauphine would have been enough at least for an intense battle with Froome over three weeks. I remember feeling hard done by after seeing Froome's performance at Andora.
