Anyone else think Contador has seriously upped his program since the second rest day? He's absolutely flying. To be honest I hope he has, and I hope he's changed his blood too. Would love it if he pulled off something spectacular tomorrow. :D

I think that one thing must always be kept in mind during the Contador vs Froome discussion, and that is Andy Schleck. Froome to puncture when echelons start forming and eventually lose three minutes. Contador to gain time on every gc contender other than Martin and begin his attack on yellow.

I think (and hope) that people are being overly pessimistic. We have no idea yet what Alberto's form is: He tip-toed around the TT, and lost time on the last kick of Belle Filles (remember that until that last kick he had actually completed the rest of the climb quicker than anybody else), but...

If it's raining on the uphill I can see Contador going over the top alone, or maybe with Aru. Froome is never as good in the rain and Contador is usually way better. Froome would probably catch and drop him on the descent though.

I expected Contador to lose 10-20 seconds to Froome and Porte today so not worried at all. 2015 Contador would probably have finished 20-30 seconds back here. There's a strong chance of rain on the Mont du Chat, and we all know how much Contador improves in the rain, even when he's in poor...

Contador the favourite for the stage now? Froome will drive it all the way up the climb, all he has to do is sit on. Valverde and Aru should get caught.

Re: Re: Yes It was, that was done likely to distance Lance further though. I think if Frank had been there then the Schlecks would have mixed it up early on Avoriaz and Contador would likely have lost the tour there.

Re: Re: Agreed, I think that the form Contador was showing on the last mountain stage of the Dauphine would have been enough at least for an intense battle with Froome over three weeks. I remember feeling hard done by after seeing Froome's performance at Andora.
