The vélo d’or is voted by an international jury of journalists, it has nothing to do with the french origin of the magazine.

Chaves is clearly the safe bet. Lopez why not, but he has to show he is able to do well for 3 weeks. Landa maybe, but he has to confirm his Giro 2015, even if he has the legs to win a climby GT I think. And Pinot if he is able to be more consistant during 3 weeks.

His true level at ITT is about Nibali's one. If he had done the same TT than Nibali, I wouldn't say anything, but here he failed. Last year he won 3 TTs, whose one in WT and the NC, about 1 min above every others riders. This year he made two good TTs in Ruta del Sol and Tirreno. Yesterday...

I hope Pinot will come back soon to the Giro, this race suits him particularly. Maybe next year, but it will not be easy with the sponsor... Hurry up Gaudu, we need you on the Tour to let Thibaut go to the Giro :D
