New site design: Post all feedback here

Clumsy with a poor layout It's easy to criticize, but I'm going to anyway. The layout and content on the main page is now lacking when compared to the original. - Oversized serif fonts being used for titles are reminiscent of geocities and the sites of old, but that's easily fixed. -...

    What beer ya drinkin'?

I've taken to drinking a lot more red wine than beer (but that would be a different thread) however I've not stopped on the beer front! Current ones I would buy (not necessarily the best I've ever had): Peroni Nastro Azzurro (to give it the full title) Kronenbourg Pilsner Urquel Red...

    Your ideal Cadence?

I tend to hover around 90 if I'm not thinking about it too much. I have a Garmin Forerunner 405 that I use to record cadence and my average is generally 89-91 almost without exception. That said I've been trying some different things as they relate to TT...slower and faster cadence...

    Cancellara

He's lucky...plain and simple! Lucky that Contador wasn't racing!!

Hunger, Exercise and Negative calorie balance

Something does quite add up here. Given that you rode for 5 hours in "severe heat" with hills and wind thrown in...no food...etc...you'll be closer to 7000kcal deficit for the DAY rather than the week. I'm in decent shape and can't go 3 hours on the bike without food...if I do the ride comes...

Vuelta a Espana - who's going to win?

Valverde should be good enough to win a Grand Tour...except for one stage every time. He'll be close, crack once then struggle to stay near the podium.

Robbie McEwan says he will beat Cavendish

Uhm... I live in Louisiana, but was born and raised in Scotland. I assume that's something to do with LSU, but really have no idea beyond that (I do know all about the spelling theaux). Back to sprinting. Robbie was very good and never had much of a train. The key word here is WAS. Now...

Robbie McEwan says he will beat Cavendish

What's Robbie going to say??? "My goal for next season is to have my a$$ spanked and handed to me week in week out for the entire year!" Whether he can beat the other top sprinters or not doesn't matter. He's got to believe it (or at least say it) otherwise there would be no point in racing.

    weight loss regimen

Fair point. As noted elsewhere in this thread it's all about the individual. Some things worked for one person, but not another.

    weight loss regimen

Personally I weigh myself once a week. Every Thursday morning. Get up. Pee. Put contact lenses in. Weigh myself and check body fat. Weighing yourself at different times of the day you're likely to have more food/water/poo inside you. Whilst there is some chance for variation first...

    weight loss regimen

I completely disagree with not eating until you're hungry. Eating small amounts throughout the day prevent you from feeling hungry. If you get to the point of feeling hungry you will, more often than not, overeat. Your body takes about 15 minutes to realize that you've eaten something...you...

Heaviest rider to ever win the Tour?

Yeah, this is interesting. I'm 6'-0" and 175, my wife calls me anorexic (I'm not even close to that) but in the cycling world I'm WAY at the upper end of the spectrum. I don't know that I would call Big Mig a pig, as an earlier poster did. It would seem that pigs can fly!

    Component Prices

That's where my signature came from! It's all about the engine. The little component details are only important at the very top level where everything else is equal!

    Cadence

Retracted my comment as I was being a dumb a$$!! I'd never given the efficiency of the human body much thought...I'm used to considering things which are much more efficient than it is!

Looking to buy my first legit road bike.

Hi there, I made the switch to a road bike a few years ago since I was doing only road riding. I decided to build a bike myself, but I'm not going to say that's the most cost effective way to do it (it worked out very nicely for me, but I shopped hard and got good deals). labratty made...
