But to me, that does not mean he's a bad climber. He is a good climber. He just so happened to ride in the same era as two of the greatest climbers in history.
I firmly believe that stage 6 in the Pyrenees with the Aspin, Tourmalet, and Gavarnie will be the stage where Pogacar will gain the most time out of any stage in the 2026 Tour and I will stand on that until the Tourmalet is crossed on that stage.
I’m not really too bummed about missing the Gaborisse on stage 6. Tourmalet is fine as the penultimate climb. Then they descend Tourmalet and go straight to Gavarnie without any flat valley in between.
Not really. I don’t get why the decision to race either Dauphine or Suisse would depend on Vingegaard. It just depends on where Pogi feels he can get the best prep for the Tour. Or maybe it would just depend on vibes.
Ohh okay. When I look at that stage 6 profile, I just can't think of anything other than a Pogacar long-ranger from Tourmalet. Especially since it's the only big mountain stage in the first week and next big mountain stage after that is on stage 14.
Feel free to look at the route in detail when...
It isn't but if they are able to keep the break close, it is fine. They can also elect to put Wellens in the break like they did on Hautacam this year.
It's his specialty. If he kills the Tour there, he can just follow Jonas' wheel from there on.
Unless you mean just control that stage until...
There's no flat valley at all between Tourmalet and the final climb to Gavarnie, which is like 20 km at 4%. It's a very good chance for Pog to kill the fight for yellow there. If Jonas gets dropped on Tourmalet, there's a good chance Pog will gain 2-3 minutes by the end with that shallow final...
