    Philippe Gilbert Discussion Thread

Why did Gilbert crash? Why did Gilbert crash? If you watch the clip on Youtube in slow mo it looks like he's following the line of the motorcyclist and all is well until suddenly a square patch of white paint at the road edge appears directly in his intended path which seems to spook him...

    Tour de France 2017 stage 4: Mondorf-les-Bains-Vittel 207 km

Re: Tour de France 2017 stage 4: Mondorf-les-Bains-Vittel 20 If you just watch the video at regular speed it sure looks like deliberate elbowing. But when you watch the slow-mo, and look at stills like this, and then watch the slow-mos again. it's really really obvious. He had to lift his arm...

    Michele Scarponi RIP

Re: Re: We can blame the driver and rightfully so. But to survive out there we have to learn how to avoid crashes that are the fault of others. The left cross is indeed a common type of crash, and prevention practices are well known (click on link below). Perhaps not as known as well as they...

Official Lance Armstrong Thread: Part 3 (Post-Confession)

Re: Re: Today? Sure. In the late 1990s and early 2000s... naivete about doping in cycling was widespread. It was very different then. It wasn't until Armstrong finally confessed that the story changed from "tested clean 500 times" to "everybody was doing it". When Armstrong first started...

Poll: Should the Babes on Bike thread have been removed?

I have not been on cyclingnews in a while and just came back specifically to look for the BoB thread. How disappointing to find it has been deleted. The morons are winning, sadly.

Do/should you ask before sucking wheel?

A variation of this question was asked on another forum. I wonder what folks here think.

I don't think Taylor Phinney needs a Clinic thread

I think road familiarity and descent skills explains his getting the gap on the descent. But once the road flattened out I don't see how superior TT skills and road familiarity would be enough for a clean rider to maintain the gap as long as he did from a group of doped chasers. Of...

I don't think Taylor Phinney needs a Clinic thread

Same way many of these guys did it when they pulled it off. By being doped and slightly better/faster/stronger/more motivated that day. Pulling that off clean would require being better/faster/stronger by an incredible margin.
