Winning Grand Tour without a single stage victory - Ever?

Re: Winning Grand Tour without a single stage victory - Ever Oscar Pereiro won the Tour in 2006 without winning a stage. Greg Lemond won the Tour in 1990 without winning a stage.

Teams & Riders Chris Froome Discussion Thread.

Froome and Sky have been magnificent. The first nine stages could not have gone any better for them. If Froome stays strong then he will win this race easily. However, I think this is going to be a really interesting couple of weeks and Sky will be tested to keep the jersey. They have had to...

Froome in 2013 form would be a very strong favourite for this race. I am not sure he is though. He doesn't seem to have the same zip. However, if he has had a similar build up as he did to the 2012 race when he was very quiet until placing 4th at the Dauphine and his form continues to rise as it...

    Who will win the Tour?

A very close race between Contador and Froome. The two summit finishes in the Pyrenees could decide it. Saxo look stronger than Sky in the mountains with Roche, Rogers and Kreuziger. Nieve is Froome's best mountain goat. Jurgen van den Broek looked good in the Dauphine. He might get on the...

    Wiggins Discussion thread.

From Sky website: After crossing the line Wiggins, who will not ride the national road race on Sunday, said: "It was full commitment today. Any time trial you go into as Olympic champion, especially at the British championships, you want to win it. "This is probably the best British...

I hope so. If Thomas is riding then Wiggins should be. But Wiggins knows he won't be there which is a shame for him and his fans. Agree with Dirty Works above. If Wiggins doesn't ride it will be because Froome doesn't want him there - which is obvious - and Brailsford doesn't want to rock the boat.

Wiggins wins British TT champs Wiggins wins British TT championship by 1min 8 secs from Thomas over 42k. Not bad on a 2 lap course with decent climb on it. It was raining as well. Well done Wiggo!

Until he attacked, Froome was magnificent in helping Wiggins on La Toussuire.

You say Wiggins has not been involved at the real top level. Who on Sky this year has? Certainly not Porte. Thomas has been decent but Wiggins' performance in Paris Roubaix, the TT in TOC and the last climbing stage there where Dombrowski could hardly hold his wheel has been very good. This...

I find it interesting that one man has so far been able to avoid any criticism in the Wiggins/Froome debate - David Walsh. It was Walsh that stirred things up with the whole thing of Froome not being paid by Wiggins for his efforts in 2012. This was not true. According with tradition, Wiggins...

Too many people forget that Wiggins was in yellow in 2012 and Froome went against team orders and attacked him. As for the prize money. My understanding is that Froome was paid his share of the prize money it was the share of Wiggo's bonus that wasn't paid.

It's a pity OGE can't take him this year. I have just watched this interview with Chris Froome and my guess is that Wiggins will not be in the Sky lineup for this year's Tour. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/cycling/27648845 We'll find out in the next few days who's in Sky's Dauphine team. If...

Commentary on TNT and other WB brands

Commentating is a hard job. I couldn't do it. However, some of Eurosport's cycling commentary is particularly bad. Carlton Kirby is not very good. He doesn't seem to have a lot to add to the pictures on the screen. He is very good at telling us how far there is to go in the stage every four...

Wiggins is more than worth a place as things stand. But does Froome want him there? I think Froome will want Wiggins there as a last resort, PR issues aside. I think Wiggins could be one of the big surprises of this year's TDF. If he loses a few kilos then a time trial win and top 10 finish...

Teams & Riders Chris Froome Discussion Thread.

I wonder just how long Froome and some of the Sky team can keep up the very aggressive training under Tim Kerrison. Kennaugh saying he feels empty is a worrying sign. Porte has not really looked good all year and was struggling at the back in today's LBL. There's only so much hard training...
