    I think as a neo-pro you also get an apartment along with your base salary. And when you factor that into it. As well as all the kit/ bikes you can sell to amateur riders and promotional opportunities of being a pro, they would never be left begging.

    I think it's quite common for riders to ditch the Giro to get ready for the tour, or ditch the veulta to get ready for the worlds. Its been that way for many years now. Riders wont jeapordize themselves just to "respect" the giro. JB probably told him to throw in the towell.
