Official Lance Armstrong Thread: Part 3 (Post-Confession)

I'll preface this by saying I still view LA as the winner of 7 Tours but I can't see how he can now say he should be punished in line with what other dopers got (ie. 6 month ban). To equate this to a criminal case, someone who "pleads" guilty always receives the promise of a lesser sentence. A...

What should happen to Sky for getting food on Stage 18?

Whatever the normal penalty is but, honestly, this brings disgrace to the Yellow jersey. He has a huge lead so he figured it's ok to cheat since even being docked a minute wouldn't really threaten his overall ambitions. Disgraceful and offensive. Play by the rules, this isn't some rider in 120th...

    Tour de France - Stage 8, 195km - Castres / Ax 3 Domaines, July 6th

From Cyclingnews Live report today ... "16:40:40 CEST Froome comes through to the front and grinds away from Porte and Quintana. The two Sky riders seem to be on another planet to the rest of the race, not unlike Heras and Armstrong in the Pyrenees in 2002." :D

Poll: Where will Richie Porte finish on GC?

Generally, that's true but that won't be the case in this year's Tour. Last year was a much easier route and Skye had a much stronger team. Hell, Wiggins rode tempo the entire Tour and won easily behind his Skye train of Froome, Rogers, Porte, etc. This year it's just Porte and leader Froome who...

Poll: Where will Richie Porte finish on GC?

Yes, and it's completely normal for teams to just ride tempo to reel in attacks of the best climbers in the world. :p LOL

Poll: Where will Richie Porte finish on GC?

Skye's team is not nearly as strong as last year. It's missing domestiques Rogers and Froome and Thomas is riding with a fractured hip. Add to that a much, much tougher route and the addition of in form climbers Valverde, Contador, Evans, Schleck, Rodriguez, etc etc and you've got a much...

Poll: Where will Richie Porte finish on GC?

It's a tough tour with a lot of strong climbers (unlike last year) and there will be too many attacks that he'll have to chase down in Froome's service for him to be on the podium or even top 5. If he manages it, it will be an amazing feat.

Poll: Where will Richie Porte finish on GC?

    A) On the podium B) Top 5 C) Top 10 D) Outside the Top 10 I can see him outside the Top 10 after he works for Froome in the high mountains and crawls home on the toughest stages after peeling off.

Strangely he reminds me of Michael Rasmussen :p

No, I didn't misread it, the full quote is: "If he can stop Alberto Contador et al, at this year's Tour de France, he will be on track to win multiple Tours, possibly become one of the greatest stage racers in the history of the sport and earn the salary to match." You're reading into it...

Quote from Steven Farrand's Froome feature today: "If he can stop Alberto Contador et al, at this year's Tour de France, he will be on track to win multiple Tours, possibly become one of the greatest stage racers in the history of the sport". Um, really? Now we are crowning him as possibly...

Teams & Riders Chris Froome Discussion Thread.

All the Sky lovers seem to think it's a foregone conclusion for a Froome win. Wrong my friends. Unlike last year, this year you're going to see the Sky boys shredded in the high mountains with likely only Porte along with Froome halfway up final climbs. Then you'll see the Spanish armada of...

What can stop Froome at the Tour?

Umm, his doctor! lol Porte too! :p

    Schlecks Depreciation Thread

Andy's lead up to the Tour was shaky at best and he's showing he's not on his best form. He has no chance to win the Tour. AC is the man with panache and the Schleck's don't have an ounce of his courage. I'm happy Andy the whiner got dropped today. Keep making excuses, Mr. Tool. Oh, and Frank...

Le Tour de France 2011 - the big one is coming

Andy Schleck's free ride to Tour glory It's a lot easier to chase the carrot than to be the carrot two years in a row. Contador has always been the carrot and rides EVERY race to win and with a champion's panache. There is no such thing as a "race to train" with Contador and that's why I will...
